We received indoor skydiving admission in exchange for this post. All opinions and our love for adventure remain our own.
Sometimes we dream big and then let fear keep us from getting to them. Take skydiving for example. MacKenzie wants it on her bucket list, but jumping out of a plane? Yeah. That’s not happening. But wait! Pigeon Forge offers indoor skydiving and you don’t have to leave the ground to do it!
Flyaway Indoor Skydiving gives you the experience of skydiving, without the need to fall out of the sky. American’s first vertical wind tunnel gave us the ability to break the bonds of gravity and fly!
It’s the perfect activity for rainy days, or any day you’re seeking the thrill of adventure.
I will admit, the building inside and out is dated, however, we were looking for thrills, not interior design.
The slots fill up quickly so we recommend making reservations. Flights are every thirty minutes on the hour and half hour.
We watched a safety video and reviewed hand signals. The wind tunnel is loud and the instructors rely on hand signals to guide you to maximize your experience and safety. There was an instruction on body controls and how to fall properly.
Following the video and instruction, we moved to suit up.
We were given a suit, helmet, goggles, gloves and ear plugs.
Once we were suited up, we joined others to complete our group of five to enter the wind tunnel with their instructor.
Each session is 15-minutes long and participants take turns flying. It’s about three minutes per person of flytime, an experience you don’t want to miss!
The entire experience is about an hour from the orientation to the flight.
You will need socks and soft-soled shoes to fly.
While the kiddos entered the wind tunnel for flight, we headed up to the observation deck. There are plenty of windows at various levels to watch the action inside the wind tunnel.
William was the first of our two to get to fly.
William’s time in the FlyAway Indoor Skydiving wind tunnel can be seen here:
MacKenzie’s experience can be seen below:
They had a great instructor that made this experience very memorable.
Flyaway Indoor Skydiving in Pigeon Forge is an outside the box attraction that will have you rethinking skydiving.
