Key Lime Pie Recipe

Easy Key Lime Pie recipe with few ingredients makes this a must-try dessert!

When I lived in Miami years ago, I looked forward to Sunday. We attended church several miles from our home. When church was out, we would head home. We had to pass this lime green, small, run-down building. It was where the BEST key lime pies on the planet were sold.

My husband had gone to this place since his childhood. Back then, a husband and wife made and sold the pies. They would make them at home, bring them to this tiny building, and sell them until they were gone.

The wife had passed before I started buying pies, but the husband honored his wife. The pies were so good they would sell out within a few minutes. If you weren’t there when he flipped the sign from CLOSED to OPEN, there would be no key lime pie for you!

Sadly, this pie isn’t close to that man’s perfected key lime pie.

What this recipe is though, is simple, easy, and requires minimal effort with tasty results.

key lime pie

Key Lime Pie Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup key lime juice*
  • 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups non-dairy  whipped topping
  • green food coloring (optional)
  • 1 baked pie crust
  • Additional whipped topping

Key Lime Pie Directions:

  1. Beat lime juice and milk together.
  2. Add whipped topping and food coloring, and pour into pie crust.
  3. Refrigerate for one hour or overnight.
  4. Top with non-dairy whipped topping.

*Fresh lemon juice will work the same as lime.

You will get a different flavor using regular lime juice versus key lime juice.

Just a few notes: 1/2 cup Key Lime juice is = to about 15 Key limes. I use a garlic press to squeeze the limes quickly and easily (cut limes in half).
