Healthy Eating for Families-Kung Fu Panda 2 Inspired Tofu

Alliance Brings Kung Fu Panda Branded Tofu to Supermarkets Nationwide

Everyone was Kung Fu fighting Friday at my house for the last tostada! I hate to admit it but my Zac had to talk me into this review. The thought of Tofu made me shiver. I talked to my mom and she was of the same opinion. Still, Zac said, “Tofu is not icky”.

So Friday afternoon, to celebrate Kung Fu Panda 2 opening, we headed to market. We bought the ingredients to compliment our House Foods Medium Firm Tofu. Zac played chef and he and I said nothing to those who were eating with us. We wanted honest opinions and what a better audience than a five and seven year old?!

House Foods has teamed up with DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 2 in an effort to introduce families to the health benefits of tofu. I think this part is brilliant. My kiddos are like crows to shiny things over their favorite characters. Most of the time it’s junk, but it doesn’t dissuade them. Imagine the influence this could have on healthier things! America’s leading tofu maker might just make our day. They’ve inspired Kung Fu Panda 2 inspired recipes to encourage kiddos and families to add tofu, an underrated yet versatile superfood, to their diets.

With Kung Fu Panda 2 now in theaters supermarkets nationwide are carrying eight million packages of House Foods special Kung Fu Panda 2 packaging. It’s perfect, after all, the main character in the movie, grew up working in his family’s tofu and noodle shop.

So cute packaging aside–

We decided to make Tigress’s Tasty Tofu Tostadas-a simple snack that’s full of flavor with a little kick. Diced tofu, onions, tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, and Serrano chilies seasoned with lime juice is served on a crispy tostada for a refreshing and healthy treat.

It was incredibly easy. Dice the tofu, onion, avocado, drizzle with lime, stir.

Tigress’s Tasty Tofu Tostada Ingredients

I had to admit to Zac that it looked good.

Then we called our two taste testers into the kitchen for lunch.

“What are we having for lunch?” they asked.

We pitched they were Tigress’s Tasty Tostadas. We said nothing about the tofu.

We served them this…

Then it was judgment. I admit I held my breath. I was totally prepared to make peanut butter and jelly! Instead, they ate them and ate them.

The Divine Miss M Eats her Tigress’s Tasty Tostada

The Divine Miss M did pause about three-quarters of the way through the tostada to ask, “Mom, what’s this white stuff?” I told her it was tofu and asked, “do you love it?” She looked at me and said, “It’s okay”.

Li’l Man, on the other hand, ate his up and wanted another one. He loved ’em.

I’m going to have to admit that tofu isn’t “icky”. It’s quite tasty!
