This decadent layered mousse recipe is easy and will have your guests raving about it. It’s layers of Oreo, white chocolate, and dark chocolate so every spoonful is decadence!
It’s versatile. You can eat the mousse on its own, or layer it (as we did in this recipe).
It works well in a trifle.
It involves really nothing more than melting chocolate.
Just Good Ingredients:
Semi Sweet Chocolate: You can use dark chocolate but I think the semi sweet chocolate offers layers of deep flavor. The chocolate chips are convenient–just a note, chocolate chips do not lose shape when heated, so be sure to stir in between intervals to prevent burning. Where possible, we always recommend the highest-quality ingredients–so you may want to break a bar of semi sweet baking chocolate.
White Chocolate Chips: You’ll love the addition of this chocolate. Again, The chocolate chips are convenient–just a note, chocolate chips do not lose shape when heated, so be sure to stir in between intervals to prevent burning.
Sugar: White granulated sugar or use powdered sugar. Powdered sugar has cornstarch in it so it will help retain the shape of pudding and whipped cream.
Eggs: Room temperate eggs work best.
Butter: Salted or Unsalted works.
Heavy cream: You want the real deal here, heavy whipping cream, not Cool Whip. It is not the same.
Oreos: Use the name brand or any chocolate sandwich cookie.
