What to Look for in a Daycare Facility for Your Toddler

Look at the activities toddlers are engaged in

Make sure you learn about all the activities children are involved in. It won’t be long, and you will be considering preschool for your child, but they can still learn many things in a daycare setting with fun activities.

You are not necessarily looking at a lot of structure to their activities, but you want to see more than letting kids play all day. Play is essential for their development, but they should also have activities that help them develop fundamental skills.

A daycare center should be able to answer a question concerning activities.

Is there a routine to their day

Kids at this age need some structure in their life. Knowing exactly what they will be doing is important.

Knowing when nap time is and when they eat as well as other aspects of their day helps provide security for a child, and this security allows them to learn and grow.

There is plenty of room for children to learn and be creative in this world of routine, but children, especially toddlers, need it.

A daycare center should be able to explain their routine or a typical day. They may not have it written down because to daycare providers it is their routine as well. However, it is an easy question to answer.

Check their policies

Their routine can be explained verbally, but you need to see a written set of policies, and you need to make sure that they are compatible with your work schedule as well as your parenting philosophy.

Daycare centers often have problems with parents picking up their children late, so you will need to know when the last pick time is and whether that fits your schedule.

You will also need to know what these policies are for children who have problems. At this age, children can start hitting. Toddlers are notorious for this.

When a child hits another child, how does the daycare center handle this? Other problems can also occur, so you need to learn what their philosophy is for the disciplinarian actions of toddlers.

When you visit a daycare in Toronto, you need to trust your instincts. Make sure you feel good about the daycare center with which you will be leaving your child. You are placing a lot of trust in the people who are taking care of your child, so you need to stop and let your mind decide if the center has a good feel to it.
