One of my favorite decades is the 50s. It was long before I came along, but the music and community of that generation are truly something to love. The Divine Miss M shares this love with me and recently selected a Child Pretty Poodle Princess Costume to review from Costume Discounters.
When it arrived, Charlotte the Great, The Divine Miss M’s great-grandmother was visiting. Out of the box the costume comes in a really nice clothing bag. It made The Divine Miss M feel so special and triggered memories from Charlotte the Great of picking up their “best clothes from the cleaner””.
Together Grandma and The Divine Miss M carefully removed the costume and The Divine Miss M put it on. Charlotte the Great admired her and commented that it was one of the best 50s costumes she’d seen, ‘very close to what my girls wore in the 50s”. Great Grandma shared stories of how the poodle skirt was the must-have back then.
The costume comes with a pink satin poodle skirt that has an applique fancy white poodle on a long black leash. It also includes a black top with sleeves and white piping trim around the neck. To tie the shirt and satin skirt together, the costume has a black sequins belt that catches the light and really gives a shimmer. Ours came with a pink scarf that really made the costume look more authentic. We added our own hair bow to a high pony tail and Grandma said, “There you go!”
Quite possible the best feature this costume has is the memories grandma shared. It also should be noted that it is a twirling skirt that The Divine Miss M gives a total ten to for its ability to flair out during the twirls!
The Divine Miss M is ready to bop the hop and is looking forward to Halloween. Check out Costume Discounters for kids Halloween costumes perfect for trick-or-treating, Halloween parties, school parades and more. There’s something for everyone!
