Bottle Buddy Makes Baby’s Bottle with Ease

With less than eleven weeks until Baby Girl makes her appearance, I am finding many cool gadgets that are going to make *Life as Mommy* a lot easier.  One of these is Bottle Buddy, an electronic formula dispenser.  With every baby, I have planned to nurse; let’s face it, it is better for the baby, better for the mommy, and better for the pocketbook; HOWEVER, with my last two babies, nursing didn’t pan out the way I had planned even with these breastfeeding tips I struggled.  Big Boy was SO hungry and cried all the time because Mommy just wasn’t getting the job done, and with MES, I was working full-time as a teacher and just didn’t have the time or inclination to pump.  We used formula; they’re fine.

The formula was always so tricky though.  Sometimes I wanted a three-ounce bottle, but the scoop is for two-ounces or 4-ounces.  Sometimes the baby was crying, and I was trying to scoop with only one hand.  Sometimes (MANY times) it was the middle of the night and, really, who can count in the middle of the night with a crying baby?!  Bottle Buddy, the electronic formula dispenser, is so easy and efficient.  It measures a pre-set amount of powdered infant formula mixed into the baby’s bottle.  You don’t have to worry about losing count!

For me, not knowing how full I needed to fill the scoop made me crazy!  I know I’m not supposed to pack the scoop, but is it supposed to be a little under, a little over – and how do you get it *just right* without sticking your fingers in the formula?  This solves that problem.  Did you know that there are wide variations in the weight of powder obtained per scoop?  Scoops measured from 5.6 grams to 2.8 grams!  Crazy, right?

The other really neat thing about Bottle Buddy is that I don’t have to worry about contaminating a whole can of formula.  Opening and closing the lid, dipping the scoop in at all hours of the day…. yes, I wash my hands and counters, but it can still get icky.  On our formula cans, there would usually be a gummy ring of formula around the top of the can where formula dropped while we were scooping and goo-ed.  One can we had completely grossed us out and we ended up throwing it away.  With Bottle Buddy, we pour the contents of our formula can into the BPA-free plastic vessel and it never comes in contact with the humid air of South Carolina again until we are ready to make Baby’s next bottle.  Additionally, the vessel is VERY easy to remove and wash.  You can even use the Bottle Buddy with your microwave sterilizer.

The last neat little tidbit I thought you might like to know is that Bottle Buddy doesn’t have to be put away once Baby is mashing up Cheerios with the best of them.  It makes a great dispenser for those protein shakes that we all love so much.  It does the same task for a protein shake that it does for formula.

Bottle Buddy fits neatly under most kitchen cabinets, so it isn’t so cumbersome to have in the kitchen.  It is compatible with all of the leading brands of formula including Similac Advance, Gerber/ Nestle Good Start Gentle, Enfamil Lipil, and many more.

From the manufacturer:

Bottle Buddy is a unique electronic formula dispensing product that accurately counts a pre-set amount of powdered infant and follow on formula into a baby’s bottle. Using Bottle Buddy to make up a feeding is convenient, quick and easy to use and, most importantly, it saves time and ensures that every bottle contains the right amount of formula every time. It’s a common, yet annoying, mistake to make: you’re preparing a bottle for your baby and counting the amount of powder into the bottle when someone or something interrupts you. Before you know it, you’re wondering: “was that five or six scoops?” and have to start over again. Bottle Buddy eliminates the risk of contamination, human error and spillage by delivering an adjustable, preset, consistent quantity of powder at a touch of a button. Bottle Buddy is ideal for new parents or caretakers who may be nervous about formula quantities. Bottle Buddy is set to revolutionize the way parents make up their babies’ bottles forever. Benefits Breast milk is generally thought to be best for babies but there are a number of good reasons why many mothers choose to bottle feed from birth or only breast feed for a short while. Some parents supplement breast milk with powdered infant or follow-on formula – especially as the baby gets older. Whatever they choose, all parents want to see their baby thrive and grow at a healthy rate. On average, parents put over 10,000 scoops of infant or follow-on formula into bottles in the first year of a baby’s life. It is not only very time consuming but also very easy to miscount the amount of formula used, especially when holding a crying, hungry baby and trying to make up a bottle at the same time. Using Bottle Buddy to make up a feeding ensures that every bottle contains the correct amount of formula and overcomes some of the serious health risks associated with formula feeding. Miscounting scoops, overfeeding or underfeeding on a regular basis can have long-term health implications.

Lauralee Saad loves homeschooling her three kiddos: Ballerina, age 8, Big Boy, age 6, and MESS, age 3.  She enjoys sewing when she can find a spare corner to set up her machine and dig out fabrics, cooking and baking – especially if the kiddos are helping, and enjoying a good book after the kiddos have gone to bed.  She is thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl into the family in March of 2012.
