The Journey to a Healthier Me
For the most part I am a confident and strong woman. From time to time I may even consider myself beautiful and intelligent. I have a lot of personality. I also have a lot of weight attached to my body that shouldn’t be there. It’s no mystery how it got there. I’m a foodie. I’m also the mom to many–and with each beautiful baby I failed to take off the last 25 pounds I’d packed on in my miserable pregnancy. So here we are, frankly put, fat.
In 2007, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 50 pounds. I’ve kept it off. I learned a lot about myself on that journey and I am thankful for the newfound energy shedding the weight gave me. I still have another fifty pounds to shed.
It’s a constant battle. I joined Weight Watchers recently and had great results, losing 20 pounds. The sad truth is that being a mom comes first and I’m a caregiver to my grandmother, who, though able bodies, is 84 and has failing knees and parts. There’s very little time for me and I’m a giver, not a taker so my Julee Time is sacrificed for the good of someone else. Attending meetings and even getting myself to a weigh-in was a chore and usually such a stressful event that it required a jelly donut to celebrate when it happened!
Here’s a quick glimpse of my life and weight:
- I love to eat and hate food journaling.
- The minute sweat all activity is aborted.
- I love things that are in no way good for me: refined sugar, dark carbonated beverages, cream and let’s face it, everything is better with bacon grease.
- I’ve struggled with my weight since my second child was born. He would also be the child who continually made me cry because his favorite question was: “Remember when you were the skinny Mom?’
- My highest weight has been 267
BodyMedia Fit
At 4:19 pm I made the choice to go a different route. I’m giving the BodyMedia Fit armband a try. It allows me to log my food and see how effectively my body is burning those calories. The object for any weight loss is, of course, to burn more calories than consumed.
I’m working on the set up process. So far I have the software installed and I’m working on syncing. It’s been a simple process so far and I’ve decided, if it’s completely charged by the time I go to bed, I will put it on and begin then. Otherwise, I will put it on as soon as I wake up in the morning.
I plan on sharing my experience here. My goal is 30 pounds by January 21. It’s about ten pounds a month or a little more than two pounds a week.
The journey is beginning. I’m excited. I’m nervous and I’m positive I can do this!
I have been given the BodyMedia Fit kit in order to facilitate an honest review. No other compensation will be received. The opinions are my own and are not influenced by the sponsor. Others’ experiences may vary.
