Blue Moon: Effects on Relationships and How to Harness its Energy

This year, we have experienced several special celestial events; meteor showers, multiple Supermoons, a total lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse!

However, on Sunday 22nd of August arguably the most significant Luna phase will take place: the Blue Moon. This is something that happens every two to three years, from which we get the saying ‘once in a Blue Moon!’.

Eager to find out how this rare celestial event will affect our emotions and relationships, experts at PsychicWorld.com spoke exclusively to Inbaal Honigman, renowned Mystic and Astrologer, who explains it all!

The Blue moon refers to an ‘extra’ full moon that occurs every two to three years. Usually, there are three full moons every season, but this summer reveals the third of four full moons. The moon however does not appear blue; its name is instead believed to have derived from the Old English word ‘to betray’ as it diverges from the typical Luna phase. With full moons being emotional affairs, this maverick moon will no doubt have an even more powerful impact on our emotions!

With the Luna phase being tightly bound to our emotions and mood, it is important to be aware of how this rare Blue Moon will affect you. Like with all full moons, we experience a heightened sensitivity which, if not channeled correctly, will make you feel fatigued and over-emotional.

However, if you embrace the waves of this Luna phase, you will find greater scope for spirituality and healing during this time. Your imagination and dreams will be more vivid, making it a great time for manifestation whilst your cognitive ability is at its peak.

Think about what you’d like to do with your life – move abroad, start a business – now is the time to start planning! Citrine is the crystal of choice for manifesting abundance and prosperity; try charging it under the Blue Moon for maximum effect.

At the weekend (21st – 22nd August), the moon will be in Aquarius whilst the Sun will be in Leo. These powerful and charismatic signs will add fuel to your manifestations.  With the Sun in Leo, our inner showman will come out to play under the Blue Moon. Get ready for your last spontaneous weekend of fun as the Sun is to make a quick transition into organized Virgo, meaning that the frivolity of summer will start to give way to the steadfastness of autumn.

Relationships are also affected when the moon is full. A Blue Moon in particular is a time when secrets come to light. If the secrets are wonderful and special, like a proposal or a new baby, this can be a deeply romantic moment. If the secrets are of the unfaithful kind, they could be detrimental to your partnerships. Keep your eyes peeled for any new information during the ‘betrayer’ moon.

As stated, the moon will be in Aquarius, a humanitarian zodiac sign, and so we will be feeling more generous towards those less fortunate than ourselves, and perhaps even more willing to take back that difficult ex! With both romantic and platonic relationships, you will have an urge to give and assist which can strengthen relationships in your life.

This is the second full moon in Aquarius in a row (normally you wait a year between them), so you may start to feel quite exasperated by your own good nature!
