Update: PTA Reflections-Council

PTA Reflections
Council Award Night

My big mouth managed to keep it a secret.

After dinner we bathed and got dressed and there was so much excitement. We arrived at the Junior High School and the children still had no idea what we were there for, just that it was exciting.

We found seats and then walked the tour of entries. My daughter found her school grouping and exclaimed, “It’s Reflections! We are going to find out if I won!”

The Chairperson introduced herself and informed the audience that the category with the most entries was the Visual Arts. There were 179 entries and six judges. It was so close that some of the children would receive “Award of Excellence”, meaning that it was an awesome entry, but would not be going on to the next level.

The Divine Miss M was not shy. She got in line for each of her categories. She approached the microphone with confidence, stating her name and entry title clearly.

The first category she went up for recognition was Literature. She stood with the group and applauded when other children’s names were called. Then the Chairperson announced, “Those winners advancing to the next level are…” and the Divine Miss M’s name was called.
First Place–Literature
Photography was her second category. She followed the previous routine and left the stage with NO award or advancement.

She was not discouraged.

The final category, Visual Arts, was indeed a huge line of children. They filled the stage in a half circle, squeezing closer with each name being given. Then the moment came for “Those winners advancing to the next level are….” and for the second time in the evening, The Divine Miss M’s name was called.

First Place–Visual Arts
There are no words to describe the joy in my daughter’s face. She was proud to represent her school.

Three entries on the School Level–each advancing to Council.
Three entries on the Council Level–TWO advancing to Region.
TWO Entries Advancing to Region!
As I tucked her into bed, she whispered, “I know what I am going to do for next year!”
