Knit, Purl, Create
by Becca Smith
Knitting has always fascinated me. I’ve tried it several times but my conclusion has always been that I don’t have enough fingers and hands to make it work. Now, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Knitting attempts to teach me a skill I would love to learn.
Authored by Becca Smith, the step-by-step instructions make it a “learn-as-you-go” course. Starting with the purl stitch and lots of photos along the way there’s a project waiting for you to complete. Projects like scarves, hats, mittens, blankets, pillows, sweaters, socks, and a stunning kimono.
This book features:
- A new “learn-as-you-go” way of teaching makes this book perfect for beginners
•Packed with hundreds of clear and easy-to-understand photos
•According to the Craft Yarn Council of America, 53 million American women knit or crochet
•Author is an expert knitter and owns her own knitting and yarn company
It took me some dedication to “get” knitting. The book was very informative and patient as I struggled with needles and yarn. In the end, I was able to complete a chain. I was delighted, however, my carpel tunnel zapped the fun and then my Zac took the book to begin his own learning to knit adventure.
If I can knit a chain from nothing more than following the step-by-step instructions in this book, it’s possible for anyone to do it.
