Review: The Dreamz Friendz and the Magic Well

A Refreshing Take on Making Dreams Come True

As a parent, I love the opportunities that give my children positive experiences and keep them sheltered from the negativity that is evident in our society. I’m by no means a Helicopter Mom, and at our house, I pride myself on running a house of consequences.

Throughout my adult life I have read many books and have been fascinated by what is known as The Law of Attraction. This belief is based on your conscious and unconscious thoughts impacting the things that happen to you. A popular book based on this theory is “The Secret.”

Author Michael King has taken the Law of Attraction and created an inspirational book, The Dreamz Friendz and the Magic Well. It’s a self-improvement book for children. I love this concept. I have found sometimes it’s difficult to keep a child’s bucket so full that all the holes punched through it can’t deplete its value. I find it uplifting that children can find the good in almost any situation, and I want my children to carry this precious belief with them into their adult life.

When The Dreamz Friendz and the Magic Well book arrived, I set it on the coffee table and said nothing. My four-year-old discovered it first. I knew he had laid eyes upon it when I heard him exclaim, “Oh. Wow! this is soooooo cool!” This notified the other small troops gathered around Li’l Man and the book.

Li’l Man couldn’t have been more accurate. The book is absolutely beautiful! It is full of vibrant colors and pictures that carry my children into their own world of imagination. Each of my children have picked the book up several times and just looked through it.

I’m not big on books that rhyme, but The Dreamz Friendz and the Magic Well pulls it off. On our walks throughout the day, my children like to play the rhyming game where one person says a word and everyone else has to say a word that rhymes. This book has really stepped up the game!

This bedtime story about four magical children and their pet dragon will have them learning life lessons from the magic well. Life lessons like imagination, positivity, sharing, self-esteem, respect and appreciation. It’s about having a dream and learning to make them come true. We’ve read it every night for a week, and my children are still asking for it.

The author says, “Essentially, I wanted to create a book that would teach children what adults have been reading about for years and tailor it specifically for small children.”

King is successful with his creative approach not only in the illustrations of the book but the text, is bold with rhyming words color coded. My children recognize this means the words “sound the same” and is helping them sound out the words and read.

My children have adopted one of the book’s pages as their mantra. Throughout the day, I hear them repeat, “The Dreamz Friendz want you to succeed, so grab life by the horns and do what you need!

The only downfall I have of this book is that I really don’t like that Dreams and Friends end in a “z.” Call me peculiar, but I really believe it is important for children to learn to spell correctly and I think the “z” ending takes away from this book’s impressive message.
The Dreamz Friendz website continues to impress me with its contribution to charities.

The Dreamz Friendz and the Magic Well can be purchased through the Dreamz Friendz website for $14.99 or through Amazon for $10.79.
