School might be over, but that doesn’t mean kids should stop learning. In fact, a recent study shows that students who read as few as 6 books over the summer maintained the literacy skills they developed during the previous school year, while students who read a higher number of books achieved even greater success. Ready to hit the library?
Check out Oceanology by Zoticus de Lesseps. It’s the newest release from the Ogolies series.
What if a sixteen-year-old assistant traveled aboard the storied Nautilus, the narwhal-shaped submarine of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? And what if he were the sole survivor of the ill-fated voyage and went on to relay his adventures to a certain . . . Jules Verne? Find this brave young man’s own account in the lavishly illustrated Oceanology, a tale of an 1866 voyage of discovery that investigates diving bells and shipwrecks; coral reefs and ice canyons; sharks, giant octopi, and luminous sea monsters; underwater volcanoes, and even the legendary island of Atlantis.
My husband and I have each spent hours with this book on our own. It is fascinating and has some interesting illustrations and information. The one thing I don’t like is the text is not easily read…a lot of it is in the script. Aside from that, it’s a great read with my children. We allLOVE it!
If you’re not big on the library you can purchase this great book through your local bookstore. It has a suggested retail price of $19.99.
I received the book, Oceanology, as compensation for this post. No other compensation was received. The opinions are my own and were in no way influenced by the sponsor. Others experiences may vary.
