It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since the launch of Rubik’s Cube, the best-selling puzzle of all time (with more than 350 million sold), and to celebrate, the third generation of an electronic version of this puzzle – Rubik’s Slide is available and coming to Canada!
Like the Rubik’s Cube, Rubik’s Slide features over 10,000 puzzles that require a combination of speed and strategy that can pose a challenge to even the most avid casual gamers. Rubik’s Slide is also just as addictive as the Rubik’s Cube with can’t-put-it-down fun!
Though similar, Rubik’s Slide is also fundamentally different with its multiple levels of playmaking it accessible for gamers of all ages… puzzles that can be solved in Free Play mode or by choosing the Lightning Round – a race against the clock that challenges players to complete a series of 10 puzzles before time runs out.
Players begin each puzzle with a starting pattern… displayed on a nine-square (3×3) grid and then after checking the ‘goal pattern’ by pressing a separate toggle, must manipulate the pattern by twisting and shifting the top panel. Once the puzzle is solved, the game advances to the next puzzle. In keeping with the ‘electronic’ approach to such a classic game, Rubik’s Slide includes audio prompts for when you’ve solved the puzzle, sound control and an audible ‘high score’.

Boasting tends to be a big thing with some folks at my house. I was told the Rubik’s Cube was easy and therefore the Rubik’s Slide would be as well. It proved to be a brain stump and made for some fun as one by one we challenged the machine!
