7 Best Activities With Friends and Family During Bad Weather

Bad weather days can be a huge detriment to your game plan. What might have been a Saturday scheduled with outdoor time has now turned into all of you staying inside, trying not to kill each other.

It’s recommended to check the weather on the weekend in advance to avoid the situation when you get stuck in your home.

When that happens, it’s tough to know how to keep your children from getting too stir-crazy.

While they might have video games to play, you might not want them playing them the entire day.

If that’s the case, you’ll need to plan some activities ahead of time.

Here are several indoor activities with friends for you to consider.

These activities will get everyone involved and are sure to cause a lot of smiles!

1. Host a Draw-Off

Would you consider yourself and your family to be on the artistic side of things?

If so, then there’s no better way to kill time and boost morale than with a good old-fashioned “draw-off.”

The rules are simple:

Everyone gets a blank piece of paper and the same tools to share (such as markers, paint, colored pencils, etc.).

Then you announce what everyone will be drawing.

Make it something on the spontaneous and zany side to create some laughs.

For example, tell everyone to draw a hippo with a tutu on or a jaguar with a top hat and a mustache.

The best part?

Everyone is a winner in this game, so it will prevent your children and their friends from arguing over who is the victor.

2. Osho Zen Tarot

Bet you weren’t expecting to read anything about choosing an activity to do for self-reflection and gratitude on this list!

For those of you that don’t know, Osho Zen Tarot is a deck that contains 79 cards with different images on each.

The famous artist, Ma Deva Padma, created them to help those that see them embrace the blessing and power of staying in the present moment.

Don’t worry, though, and you aren’t left to depict each card for yourself.

It also comes with a book that tells you the meaning behind each.

3. Board Game Bonanza

Board games are fun, but depending on the family, they might not be an activity that you prefer all that often.

However, when it’s rainy outside, the board games will help give you an excuse to bring everyone in the house together for a bit of family fun.

Consider stocking up on popular family games such as Life, Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Operation, Clue, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, and much more!

These board games will help everyone get into some spirited competition without injury and only a few seconds of a disappointment for those that don’t win.

Not to mention, board games can be a great time for teaching life lessons!

4. Break out the Legos

Legos are notoriously fun for any age.

It doesn’t matter if your kids are in elementary school, middle school, or high school; they’ll all find legos an enjoyable family game.

That’s what makes them so unique.

Your entire family will share an equal amount of enjoyment from it.

Better yet, there are no rules when you bring out the Legos.

Everyone can create their own thing and show it off when they’re finished.

If you’re looking for something you can all do together, then consider purchasing a large Lego set that everyone can put together.

Each large Lego set comes with step-by-step instructions the family can follow.

5. Family Video Game Session

Every video game console has an opportunity for families to have an all-out tournament when rainy days hit.

The Nintendo Switch is notoriously family-friendly, with franchise games such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros to provide family fun.

Then, on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, you have games such as NHL20 and Madden20 that provide a tournament-style game night.

Sure, some family members might not be that great at it, but who cares!

The kids will get a kick out of Mom and Dad playing video games with them, writes the NY Times, which will lead to some much-needed laughs.

6. Tik Tok

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, Tik Tok has now reached a level where it’s a credible rainy-day activity.

All jokes aside, using you or your child’s Tik Tok account to create a trendy video will do two things.

First, it will help the time pass by as you try to coordinate dance moves (learn more with this video on YouTube).

Second, it will lead to several laughs and help you get exercise simultaneously.

Your kids will love getting Mom, Dad, Aunt Jane, or even Grandma involved in the Tik Tok video that they create.

7. Build an Indoor Fort

Perhaps your children are on the younger side, and you’re looking for ways to keep them all entertained.

If so, there’s nothing better than building a massive indoor fort inside.
