A SIMPLE BLESSING: THE EXTRAORDINARY POWER OF AN ORDINARY PRAYER

Sometimes a book moves you. It stirs your soul and gives you cause to reflect, project, and experience something extraordinary. Michael W. Smith caputres all this in his book A SIMPLE BLESSING: THE EXTRAORDINARY POWER OF AN ORDINARY PRAYER. It’s a story whose message is grace, redemption and above all else, love.

It all started at the end of one of his concerts, Smith gave a unique prayer of blessing over the audience. It was a weave of Smith’s desire to share God’s desire to bring good into his audience’s lives and woven with Scripture.

Four pages into A Simple Blessing: The Extraordinary Power of an Ordinary Prayer I was touched. It was so simple and yet so powerful. Throughout the book I was moved by Smith’s personal experiences, his audience reaching out to him and their testimony of how his prayer changed their life.

The book outlines six specific blessings. All direct the reader to look beyond themselves and focus on blessing others. He implores us to see the need for spirituality in our marriages, families, homes and our minds.

In Chapter Six he shares the destruction and devastation in Haiti. In a manner that really struck me where he talked about the hopelessness and uncertainty, Smith changed the perspective to share that prayers and blessings fill the unloved with love and the darkness with hope.

Written with best-selling author, Thomas Williams, A Simple Blessing is a touching guide of taking a moment in your life and changing it from heartache and despair into a moment of abundant joy and peace.

Outside of his book, Michael W. Smith is one of the most popular contemporary Christian musicians. He has 21 albums, including an AMA and a trio of Grammy Awards. He also was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2009. He’s been a celebrity featured in high-profile media like USA Today, News Week, the Today show, Larry King Live and Hannity and Colmes. Through it all, he has directed the spotlight to be centered on God.
