We received the ThermaCELL Best Patio Lantern 2018 -Top 10 Reviews and Buyer Guide. We appreciated the decorative touch, so it looked attractive and camouflaged the fact that the ThermaCELL was creating a 15’x15′ shield against biting bugs.

We entertain, and we spend a lot of time outside. It’s impractical to ask guests to spray or wipe themselves down with repellent. With the ThermaCELL Patio Lantern, we found a great way to relax without effort. After the kiddos are in bed, my husband enjoys sitting outside admiring the garden. He sits between the pool and the garden which, before ThermaCELL as a breeding habitat for all things that bite! I gave him the lantern, and he was so impressed. I saw him outside roaming the yard with the lantern in his hand. When I joined him, he said, “This lantern works.”
He loves the two-in-one feature where not only is it repelling mosquitoes, it’s giving light. The device requires four “AA” batteries (not included). The light it not incredibly bright, but still provides enough to see. The handle gave him the option to hang it, walk with it or just rest the lantern.
The Thermacell Patio Lantern comes with a butane cartridge and mosquito repellent cartridges. The butane lasts approximately 12 hours, and the cartridges have a lifespan of about four hours each. The cartridges are color-changing (blue to white) to indicate that the repellent is gone and the cartridge should be replaced.
Once the cartridge is in place, the user clicks a button 3-5 times, which heats the butane cartridge. An orange light indicates it is working. There was a mild odor, but nothing over-powering and certainly not like spray or wipe on repellents.
The kiddos slept in their tents over the weekend, and we hung a ThermaCELL Patio Lantern in the tree above them. It allowed them to get in and out of their tent without inviting the blood-suckers. The kiddos enjoyed having a “night-light,” and I loved the assurance that they weren’t coming in with itching welts.
We found the ThermaCELL Patio Lantern convenient and loved the fact that there is no spray, no oil, no mess, and no hassle. Just click and go!
My husband was thrilled when he returned from Home Depot with refill cartridges! Units and refill cartridges are also available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Walmart, ThermaCELL.com, and Tractor Supply. Visit ThermaCELL for a complete list of retailers.
