Sparkling Orange Beverage #Recipe

Recipe Type: drinks, beverages
Author: Julee Morrison
This sparkling drink made with freshly squeezed juice is refreshing. It can be served for breakfast or anytime for a light, tasty treat.
Ingredients
  • 3-4 Oranges
  • 2 cups sparkling plain carbonated water
  • 1 cup sugar, optional
Instructions
  1. Grate one of the oranges to make zest. Zest comes from the orange part of the rind–not the white part.
  2. Measure 1 Tbsp orange zest.
  3. Cut the oranges in half and juice.
  4. Pour the orange juice into a measuring cup. It should measure about 1 cup of juice.
  5. Add the orange zest.
  6. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the orange juice through a strainer set on top of a pitcher. This will remove the zest, pulp and seeds. Add 2 cups of sparkling water and stir well.
  8. Taste the orange fizz. If it is too tart, sir in 4-6 tablespoons of simple syrup to the pitcher.
  9. Experiment with different types of juices. Try making with grapefruits, different breeds of oranges and even lemons.
