Living It Up, If Only For A Moment

For many of us, owning an ultra-luxury car like a Rolls-Royce Ghost is little more than a fantasy. Apart from being absurdly expensive, they are not the most practical of vehicles, unlike a crossover or ute. Power and good looks are prized over passenger and cargo space, and fuel economy all but goes out the window. But, at the same time, it is hard to resist the allure of these grand cruisers. You can, however, experience the glamor of driving one if you know how – here are some ideas for sprucing up your event from the experts at Car Buzz.

Getting behind the wheel

Naturally, outright buying one of these opulent models is probably out of the question. With a starting MSRP of over $300,000 in the USA, your best option would be to rent, but this can be rather expensive. A full day will probably cost you around $3,000. Instead, consider making it part of a classy day out. You can book one for between $150 to $200 per hour, which is slightly more reasonable, so plan around this when organizing your event.

You will need to ensure your license is up to date and have a good track record with your insurance. Also, a security deposit of around $1,500 to $2,000 is common, but you’ll get it back afterward, so long as nothing goes wrong. So factor this in when determining how much you need to save up. However, if you want to really enjoy the experience, the back seat is the place to be, so a chauffeured experience might be even better if a little pricier.

Tops and tails

Before you decide whether to rent a full-size Rolls-Royce Phantom or a slightly smaller Ghost, you need to plan a suitable event. This isn’t just a trip to the movies or a fancy luncheon. If it’s just you and your partner, maybe a night at the opera or ballet would be ideal? It’s a great occasion to get out that gorgeous ball gown you’re almost too scared to wear.

If you or your partner love powerful cars, then the Ghost is a great choice since it has loads of horsepower on tap and more refined handling for optimum performance. But, if you just want to enjoy all the features outfitted in these incredibly lavish vehicles, then the rear seats of the Phantom are the height of luxury. Since there is no such thing as base model Rolls, you can expect all the bells and whistles to be included.

A memorable night

If you decide to indulge in this little fantasy, document it. Take some photos of yourselves in the car and at the event, and maybe take a video if one of you decides to get behind the wheel. Just be safe while doing so. Since you need an imposing resume even to be allowed to test drive one of these cruisers, this might be your only chance.
