My Love Book Review

My grandma, aka: “Charlotte the Great“, is one of my favorite people. She watched me as a baby. I lived with her during high school and through the years she has become my best girlfriend. She is 84 and amazes me.

This week I shared with her My Love Book, a new and creative way to show how much someone means to you.  It was a fun process! The entire book is created by you–select the cover, the questions you want to answer and fill in with your own memories and messages. Once you’re done, MyLoveBook.com turns your thoughts and message into a beautiful hardbound book.

This is more intimate than a card and it’s not just for romance. I gave my grandma one and filled it with my favorite memories we’ve shared together. It would be a wonderful gift for a friend, a co-worker, a sister, mother–anyone who you have shared a life moment with and want to remember.

I selected a coral colored cover stamped with gold flowers. It was perfect for the joy I captured in the book for Charlotte the Great. There are two other covers to choose from depending on the person and occasion.

I really loved creating this book. It was tremendous to be prompted with questions and then be able to convey in my own words the meaning of that thought to time spent with my grandmother.

The book starts with a dedication page:

My Love Book: Dedication

Then guides you through questions. Some are multiple choice, some have short answers and some have longer answers.

Some of the questions are:
  • TEN WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU
  • I LOVE THE DAILY HABIT WE HAVE
  • THE FIRST TIME I KNEW YOU WERE FOR ME
  • IF YOU WERE A SEASON
  • IF YOU WERE AN ANIMAL
  • IF YOU WERE A CAR
  • IF YOU WERE A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
  • IF YOU WERE A TREE
  • YOU SEEM HAPPIEST WHEN
  • SOMETHING YOU ALWAYS SAY THAT’S VERY WISE
  • I LOVE THAT YOU ALWAYS/NEVER
  • I LOVE TO MAKE YOU
  • A SONG THAT REMINDS ME OF YOU
  • ONE OF THE CRAZIEST THINGS WE EVER DID
  • I REALLY ENJOY DOING THIS FOR YOU
  • AND SO MUCH MORE.

I required customer service and it was supreme. I sent an email and received an immediate response with detailed directions to resolve an issue I was having with submitting my order. It was matter-of-fact and truly made the experience pleasant.

MyLoveBook.com offers free editing. I think everyone should use this. It’s a great thing to have someone proof your writing. It gives it a very refined and professional outcome.
Then I waited and in less than a week MyLoveBook arrived. I tucked it away and when Grandma came over for coffee and conversation, I surprised her.

Mylovebook being read by charlotte the great
She loved it! She read through the pages and would say, “I remember that!” When she got to the page about the craziest thing we’ve done: We were once out running errands and I stopped at the bank, which was inside a retail chain. As I was walking out I ended up between two shoplifters and the store security chasing them. I ran to the car and Grandma and I decided we’d chase them. We chased them for 10-minutes and then they lost us. Upon reading this adventure, Grandma said, “I wonder what we thought we were going to do with them if we caught them!”
My Love Book is a great gift and Charlotte the Great has been reading hers and calling me to share her own memories. It is one of the best gifts I have ever given and it came from the heart.

Visit My Love Book to see the different styles of books they have available. $49.99 will get you one of these great books. It’s a gift that says more than chocolates, flowers and a card. It’s the story in the written word that two people created and that is beautiful!
