Holiday Gift Guide; Go! Go! Sports Girls

Go! Go! Sports Girls are the perfect plush, sports-themed dolls designed for Girl Power. Several years ago, I was involved in an ugly conversation about how Barbie was not a good role model for girls. I don’t have to worry about which side I’m taking with Go! Go! Sports Girls because they are an excellent role model–promoting self-appreciation, self-esteem, daily exercise and healthy eating and sleeping habits for an overall healthy girl! It’s a message of Dream It and Do It!
Designed for girls between 3-13 Go! Go! Sports Girls are plush dolls, dressed in sports attire and they don’t hold the curves of Barbie. They’re built like our young girls and they’re multi-cultural like my girls and their friends.
I’m not the only fan of these awesome dolls. They have received numerous awards including the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award 2009 and Dr. ToyâАЩs 10 Best Socially Responsible Products 2010 to name a few. There have been articles about the dolls in Parenting and Shape Magazines, Self.com and a feature on the TODAY Show.

My Beauty Queen loves soccer and I love that it is something she enjoys and gives her exercise! We received Cassie, the soccer player doll.

From the Go! Go! Sports Girls Website:
Cassie is speedy and loves to score goals! Her favorite soccer position is right forward. Before playing, Cassie always puts on sunscreen and stretches. During the game she drinks plenty of water and at half-time she eats a healthy snack, like an apple. When Cassie is off the field, she likes playing board games and swimming.
Cassie likes to Dream Big and Go For It!
The doll comes with a backpack and soccer ball and after playing with Cassie for awhile, we discovered she has a secret on her belly, “Dream Big, Score Goals”. My daughter loves this part of Cassie and has taken the message to heart, stepping up her practice and setting goals.
Everything about the Go! Go! Sports Girl doll is soft. From her plush body to her yarn hair and embroidered face. She’s the perfect companion whether it’s for playing with, sleeping with or just curling up and getting cozy.
In addition to Cassie, the doll of our choice, Go! Go! Sports Dolls are also available as:
Brooke – Golf Girl
Ella – Runner Girl
Gracie – Tennis Girl
Maya – Gymnastics Girl
M.C. – Dancer Girl
Sam – Softball Girl
Suzi – Swimmer Girl
Taye – Basketball Girl
Anna -Soccer Girl
Kate – Basketball Girl
The creator behind Go! Go! Sports Girls reveals, “I created the Go! Go! Sports Girls after scouting out for a doll with a positive image for my young daughter four years ago. I realized that the message young girls were receiving is to grow up fast, wear short skirts and put on makeup. I feel strongly we should teach girls to be true to themselves and encourage them to be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy. With much research and hard work, two years later I launched the collection of 11 different Go! Go! Sports Girls.”
In addition to these great values, she adds, “I feel strongly about giving back and a portion of the profits from the sale of the dolls is donated to Girls Inc. to help support their program services for girls. Together we hope to encourage and inspire girls to develop and live a healthy lifestyle.”
Each of the Go! Go! Sports Girls retail for $19.99 and can be found at Amazon.com and other major retailers. If you’re looking for more information about Go! Go! Sports Girls visit their website at  http://www.gogosportsgirls.com.
