Heading to San Francisco for the #GoodDinoEvent #MilesEvent and #Waltagram

I am being provided with an all-expense paid trip as part of a press Junket with Disney in exchange for my press coverage.  All opinions are my own.

On May 27, 1937, while a nanny for Charlie Chaplin, my grandmother, who was 19, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was opening day and she counted every step and decades later, shared this incredible experience with me. In 1998, I visited San Francisco and it quickly filled my soul–an amazing city that I visited time and time again. I even married a fellow from the bay area!

Disney-Event

It’s been awhile, but on September 29th, I’m heading to San Francisco, courtesy of Disney, Pixar and Disney Junior for an exclusive look at the upcoming film release of Disney/Pixar’s THE GOOD DINOSAUR (opening in theatres on 11/25).

During this a press day I am over the moon that I get to tour Pixar for THE GOOD DINOSAUR where I will be part of interviews with filmmakers, animators.

The Good dinosaur

About The Good Dinosaur:

Have you ever sometimes wondered what it would be like if animals, moreover, dinosaurs roamed the world as we humans do everyday?  “The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?  Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

How adorable are the characters in this movie?

I will also be part of the In-home release of Disney/Pixar’s INSIDE OUT. The kiddos saw this movie in the theater with Grandpa this summer and the three of them just keep telling me how great it is–and they have all these inside jokes of which I want to be part of! As I write this Miss M is telling me, “Mom! That is the BEST movie in THE. WHOLE. WORLD. Even Grandpa will tell you!”

InsideOut

About Inside Out:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

During this special press day for the In-Home release of INSIDE OUT (available on Blu-ray and Digital HD on 11/3) I will get to interview filmmakers and voice talent from both INSIDE OUT as well as the all-new short film entitled “Riley’s First Date?”

I will also attend a screening of the short film “Sanjay’s Super Team” which follows the daydreams of a young Indian boy who is bored with his father’s religious medication, and imagines the Hindu Gods as superheroes.

San Francisco. Check.
Pixar. Check.
I’m also over the moon that I will be visiting Google Headquarters for a screening of Disney Junior’s MILES FROM TOMORROWLAND followed by a panel (stay tuned for the talent announcement) focusing on the importance of encouraging kids, especially girls, to explore STEM fields and how entertainment can play an important role.
STEM is something I am very much looking forward to learning about–last year was my children’s first experience with this program at school and it is one of their favorites in their schools’ curriculum!

Miles from tomorrowlandAbout Miles From Tomorrowland

Disney Junior’s “Miles from Tomorrowland” is an intergalactic adventure that charts the outer space missions of young adventurer Miles Callisto and his family – mom and ship captain, Phoebe; mechanical engineer dad, Leo; tech-savvy big sister, Loretta; and best friend robo-ostrich pet, Merc – as they help connect the galaxy on behalf of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Miles, Merc and the Callisto family explore wondrous and diverse new worlds, taking young viewers and their families on a futuristic journey designed to fuel kids’ natural interest in space, and at the same time reminding them of the importance of what lies close to home – the family bond.

Finally, a trip to San Francisco wouldn’t be complete without a tour of The Walt Disney Family Museum

As a fan of Disney, I am looking forward to learning more about Walt Disney.
