Easy Instant Pot Kahlua

Yield: About 8 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Additional Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

This Homemade Instant Pot Kahlua recipe may not be the same as the one Pedro Domecq produced in 1936, but it's pretty darn good.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • ⅔ cup instant coffee granules
  • 2 cups vodka (feel free to substitute with rum or Everclear for a stronger kick)
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste for an extra rich flavor)

Instructions

  • Add Water, Sugar, and Instant CoffeeStart by adding 4 cups of water, 4 cups of granulated sugar, and ⅔ cup of instant coffee granules to your Instant Pot. Stir to combine.
  • Set to Manual PressureSecure the lid and set your Instant Pot to "Manual" on HIGH pressure for 10 minutes. This step will help dissolve the sugar and coffee, creating a rich, flavorful syrup.
  • Quick Release the PressureOnce the timer beeps, carefully do a Quick Release of the pressure. Be sure to follow safety instructions for your Instant Pot to avoid any burns.
  • Add Vanilla and VodkaAfter the pressure is released, open the lid and stir in 3 tablespoons of vanilla extract. Then, pour in 2 cups of vodka (or your preferred alcohol). Stir until everything is well combined.
  • Cool and StoreAllow the mixture to cool completely to room temperature before pouring it into jars or bottles. Once cool, seal them tightly and store in the refrigerator.

Expert Tips for the Best Instant Pot Kahlua

    • Substitute the Vodka: For a unique twist, try using chocolate vodka, dark rum, or brandy instead of regular vodka.
    • Use Strong Brewed Coffee: If you prefer, you can replace the instant coffee granules with 4 cups of strong brewed coffee for a more authentic flavor.
    • Double the Recipe: This recipe is easily doubled or tripled, but be careful not to fill your Instant Pot above the "max" line.
    • Vanilla Bean Paste: For a more intense vanilla flavor, use vanilla bean paste in place of vanilla extract.
    • Store in the Fridge: Keep your homemade Kahlua in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
