Chili for Chilly Weather

One of my favorite dishes for winter’s blustery days is chili.

Coast to Coast, winter is here, and they are starting as winter’s coldest months. Nothing warms us up like chili in wintery storms and cold weather. Nobody does chilly weather chili quite like Hi Mountain Seasonings, who shared this chili recipe.

As the temperatures drop, warm yourself, your family, and your friends up with a bowl of this delicious mouthwatering chili.

Origin of Chili:

Chili dates all the way back to the early 1600s. There are plentiful tales and myths surrounding this popular dish.

One popular legend tells of Sister Mary of Agreda, a Spanish Nun, who supernaturally appeared to the Native Americans and gave them the first chili recipe filled with chili peppers, venison, onions, and tomatoes.

There is also an old legend that tells of immigrants from the Canary Islands bringing a chili recipe with them to San Antonio, where they settled in the early 1700s.

Chili was a popular dish with cowboys and Western frontier pioneers.

In the 1800s, Chili stands in San Antonio were popular.

The World’s Fair in Chicago featured chili at the Sant Antonio Chili Stand.

Regardless of its origin, chili is now a household name and a popular dish nationwide. Texans love chili so much that in 1977 chili was named the official state dish by the Texas legislature.

Chili warms you inside and out, and its filling is easy to make and nutritious.

As the temperatures drop, warm yourself, your family, and your friends up with a bowl of this delicious mouthwatering chili.
