Stone Mountain North Carolina

I am participating in a sponsored campaign hosted by the maker of Advil® PM and I received a free sample of Advil® PM caplets. All opinions expressed are my own.

Two decades ago (okay, maybe three), I was athletic. I ran track. I was on the swim team. I walked miles without breaking a sweat. I was somewhere in my late teens, early 20s. I had energy. I could keep up–heck, I could LEAD! Then the forties came and I find myself at the end, proving persistence still finishes, but it’s labored.

We recently went hiking.

We were new to North Carolina and set out for our adventure.

The kiddos love to explore and we heard great things about Stone Mountain so we headed out.

We got there and first, allow me to just share with you that the humidity in the South, is a real issue.

I perspire just standing still.

Stone Mountain is what I imagine the rain forest would be–hot and humid, but beautiful!

We had read about sliding rocks, and I have fond memories of Sliding Rock in western North Carolina so we meander along the trail.

It seemed casual. I could speak and walk and all was well with the world.

Then, some sick fool decided it would be hilarious to turn the trail into a living stair-master.

stone mountain stairs

I cannot even begin to tell you how many stairs there were.

They just kept going…and going…and going.

Then they’d level off for a view (to catch your breath) and resume.

I was not about to let my kiddos know that Mom couldn’t keep up, so we just kept going.

Deeper.

Deeper into the lush green forest, down and down more stairs.

Finally, I spoke up and said, “Y’know, we’re going to have to go back UP all these stairs.”

That was my golden ticket.

The kiddos decided we should go back.

I put on a big front.

I acted like this was easy peasy.

My thighs were starting to rebel and I cannot even begin to tell you how wicked my calves were cramping, but I just kept my smile plastered and kept in motion.

Finally, the trail opened back up and it was quite the view.

We made it to the truck. I drank water like a dehydrated camel.

Even Mr. Energy was whipped.

Back home, showered and ready for bed, my legs and hips were screaming profanities!

I winced as I realized my mind thinks were’ still twenties, living the high life, but my body is now reminding me we are in our forties and what was I thinking.

Sleep was not happening. Not with the noise of pain blaring in my legs.

I have lived enough to know sleep is critical to my well-being (mental and physical)…my body needs its sleep to revitalize and recover from the wear and tear of the day.

Thankfully, I’ve been here before and know that there is help in my medicine cabinet–Advil®PM. Two pills and I get the comfort of a healthy, solid night’s rest.

Advil®lPM allows me to sleep and my body to revitalize. This is not to say I woke up feeling like I was 20 again–my thighs were still screaming, “We are TOO OLD for stairs of that magnitude”, but I felt rested. I felt good.

Advil® PM keeps aches and pains out of your night and helps you get the healing rest you need. That’s because it’s specially designed for nighttime pain, combining the unsurpassed pain relief of Advil® plus a non-habit forming sleep aid to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.

I’m still out there hiking and having adventures with my kiddos. When I over-do it, I know I can sleep in comfort and not have to forfeit work or my obligations. Advil®PM is my sidekick for life’s adventures!
