Narrated by one of the best voices in Hollywood, Morgan Freeman, this 3D documentary originally shown exclusively in IMAX theaters, captured their attention and stole their hearts. It’s an incredible true story of nature’s greatest explorers–lemurs.

Written and directed by Drew Fellman, who also wrote and directed “Born to Be Wild” with director and cinematographer David Douglas, Island of Lemurs: Madagascar takes audiences on a spectacular journey to the remote and wonderous world of Madagascar. It was here, millions of years ago, lemurs arrived as castaways. Since their arrival to the island, lemurs have evolved into hundreds of diverse species, but are now highly endangered.

Island of Lemurs: Madagascar follows the tireless efforts of trailblazing scientest Dr. Patricia C. Wright and her lifelong mission to help the strange, yet adorable creatures survive in the modern world.

My children loved the baby Indri, the biggest lemur in the world and Madgascar.

My children loved learning that lemurs are primates, like us. The Five Things about Indri was so fascinating to them:

1.) Indri are the the biggest lemur in the world

2.) Indri live in pairs and mate for life

3.) Indri’s have a very short tail, they are the only lemur without a long tail.

4.) In the Indri family, everyone sings together

5.) Sometimes at the end of the day eat soil to detoxify the acid in their food.
