All Hail King Julien Returns to Netflix with New Episodes

Everyone’s favorite lemur is back and he’s ready to pa’arty! From DreamWorks Animation‘s hit animated film Madagascar, King Julien (Danny Jacobs) stars in five all-new episodes of the Netflix original series All Hail King Julien, premiering April 3.

Julien is as loud, lovable, and unpredictable as ever—and this time, the stakes (and laughs) are even higher. Set before the events of the Madagascar films, this prequel series explores how Julien rose to power and the hilarity that follows once he’s in charge of the kingdom. With bright colors, quick humor, and memorable new characters, the show keeps kids and adults alike entertained.

Head over to Netflix, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show that Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times calls “a riot… with style, script, timing and performance that shine.” Maybe even pick up a few new dance moves while you enjoy the wild antics of King Julien and meet the show’s newest character, Timo.

Timo is a prickly, sarcastic tenrec (a lesser-known mammal similar to a hedgehog) who brings brains to the jungle. He’s a self-taught tech genius who uses the junk that washes up on Madagascar’s shores to invent wild gadgets. To Julien, however, Timo is a wizard working mysterious “science-magic.” Voiced by David Krumholtz (This is the End, The Good Wife), Timo offers a hilarious contrast to Julien’s larger-than-life persona.

What’s New in These Episodes?

These latest five episodes push the kingdom of Madagascar into full-on chaos. In true Julien fashion, things quickly spiral out of control—yet he somehow, by sheer luck or lemur logic, keeps saving the day.

  • Julien introduces coffee to the kingdom, resulting in a caffeine craze that has everyone bouncing off the trees
  • He tries to automate everyday life with hilarious and disastrous consequences
  • He misrepresents the truth, much to Maurice’s frustration, and puts the colony at risk
  • We see more moments of emotional growth—yes, really!—as Julien’s heart rises to the occasion to protect his people

Whether it’s wild dancing or accidental heroism, King Julien continues to reign with flair, foolishness, and (somehow) wisdom. The slapstick humor is balanced by clever writing, making it genuinely funny for adults and older kids too.

Why Families Love All Hail King Julien

It’s not just for the little ones. Parents will appreciate the quick pacing, witty dialogue, and playful jabs at modern life. The animation is top-notch, with expressive characters and detailed settings that pop on screen. And the voice cast? Stellar.

Julien’s loyal advisor Maurice (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) continues to be the voice of reason, while Mort, the foot-obsessed mouse lemur, steals scenes with his bizarre, adorable devotion. The chemistry between the characters is what really sells the show—it’s chaotic, yes, but always heartfelt.

“It’s smart, funny, and the kind of show you won’t mind your kids watching again (and again).” – Real Parent Review

Behind the Scenes Fun

The series is created by the same talented minds behind Madagascar, and the attention to detail shows. Each character, from the main cast to the background critters, has a purpose—and a punchline. Even the gadgets Timo creates are based on real-life junk mechanics seen in DIY culture, giving it a surprising educational twist for curious kids.

Plus, the soundtrack is infectious. Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself humming Julien’s party anthem or repeating his catchphrase, “I like to move it, move it!” long after the credits roll.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a fun, energetic, and surprisingly clever series that the whole family can enjoy, All Hail King Julien delivers. It’s a mix of jungle antics, quirky science, laugh-out-loud moments, and lessons in leadership (the lemur way, of course).

Stream it now on Netflix, and let the royal jungle party begin!
