Nutella: The Original Hazelnut Spread

We’ve spent the past month moving. In the middle of our move, company came from out of town and we took the two events to share a Nutella party with our friends and family.

We invited the cousins, visiting, my 84 year old grandmother, our new neighbors and my dad. We shared our new home and then announced we were ready to share one of our favorite snacks, Nutella. Most of our guests had never heard of Nutella, which was surprising, so my kiddos filled them all in, “It’s chocolatey goodness!” declared my seven year old. My five year old said, “It’s better than peanut butter!”

First up on the menu was Nutella on a bagel topped with apple slices.

It was a big hit and one of the little guests announced, “I love this stuff so much, I think we should change our name to have the word chocolate in it. My name is now Natalia Chocolate.”

From there the fun just kept going.

My 84 year old grandmother said she couldn’t imagine it. I encouraged her to taste Nutella and she hesitantly tried a smidgen. Then said, “It’s good.” Next thing we knew she had eaten two of the sampling packages and said, “Hey! I really like this stuff!”

A 65 year old guest couldn’t stop going on about how much he loved hazelnuts, “but chocolate is my weakness” and after one taste he was asking where he could stop and pick up his own jar on the way home. If you’re asking the same thing, check out the Nutella Store Locator.

The smaller guests played games and worked off their Nutella with Apple Bagel:

When asked if they were ready for the grand finale–dessert, my new friend, whose middle name was now Chocolate, exclaimed, “Only if it has chocolate!”

I assured her it did…and big smiles appeared.

Then I brought out the Nutella Molten Pudding cakes we made from a Winter issue of All You Magazine and they were devoured before I could get back with my camera.

Nutella is my choice. I’ve never been a big peanut butter fan, but I love Nutella. Nutella with strawberries, bananas or just by the spoonful.

The only drawback to Nutella was made evident by my eight-year-old, “I don’t think Nutella will go as well with pickles as our peanut butter.” Hmmm…I hadn’t thought about that.

I received a Nutella Party Package from Nutella and MomSelect in order to facilitate an honest review. No other compensation was received. The opinions, where expressed are my own and were in no way influenced by the sponsor. Others experiences may vary.
