If you grew up in the 1980s and were a fan of MTV, you might remember the video A-ha did for their hit song, Take On Me. It was amazing as it went from film to pen and ink drawings set to animation. I loved that music video!
Now Warner Brothers takes one of my favorite shows, Supernatural, and transforms into an animated world where boundaries don’t exist. Supernatural: The Anime Series brings a new perspective to the show. Everything takes on a new dimension from color and action to scenes. and demons. Anime stretches the imagination and the budget for this great series allowing more detail into the supernatural world with pen-strokes.
Seeing the same show in the mediums of film and anime sparks the question if you were to create a story about your life, would you want it to be told on film or animated in ink?
I love the combination of both that was incorporated into the classic Take On Me video. If my life were to be made into film I think I’d want it to incorporate the two. Wouldn’t it be a hoot to watch my life unfold at the breakfast table, when the kiddos have far too much energy and then it switches to anime where my thoughts are of a deserted island and Jon Bon Jovi (Bon Jovi should never be animated!)? I think it would really add some dimension to the chaotic comedy of my life.
Has your perspective ever changed by looking at your life moments in a different light?
You know it! I look back on things in my life and wonder how did I survive that? or what was I thinking? Recently, my husband I were watching a video television show that showed the A-Ha Take on Me video and my perspective has truly changed. While I believe it was amazing technology for the 80s, I see how much everything has progressed. It was still a cool memory, but not nearly as amazing as I perceived.
