Review: Crazy About Cookies

A Book for Cookie Lovers Everywhere

The Crazy About Cookies Virtual Cookie Exchange has concluded and while we await the winner to be determined, I thought I would share with you a review on the prize–Crazy About Cookies by Krystina Castella (whose hand-picking the winning recipe from the Cookie Exchange).

This book knows cookies. It inspires me to bake them…just for fun, with my kiddos, on my own, a holiday party, a birthday or just because! It’s by far one of the greatest collections of cookie recipes I’ve encountered. Plus it includes some amazing tips and techniques to help make you as good at baking cookies as I am at eating them–and trust me, I have mad-cookie-eating-skills!

Castella is an optimist. She starts her book out not only with the tips and tricks but there’s a few pages dedicated to decorating. Let’s not kid ourselves, decorating requires allowing the cookie to cool completely and NOT putting it in your mouth until finished…but still I read the section and thought perhaps one day I’d give it a go. After all, decorating=more tasty!
Unlike other cookie cookbooks, Castella breaks the barriers and organizes hers by occasion. Brilliant! Now i can find the perfect cookie recipe for any ocsasion and be the star of the cookie bringing world!Like I said, Crazy About Cookies is an extensive collection of cookie recipes…some 350 wait in these pages, many with variations. That’s almost one cookie recipe every day for a year! Castella likes decorated cookies because she brings it up in many of her recipes. It might be fun and I’m sure the kids won’t complain. The books color photographs of the finished product even give me thoughts that I should try decorating…I’m a sucker for bright icings and if I can look like a professional, I’m all over it!.
This book is fantastic. I’ve pulled it out several times just to drool all over the pages. I find it to be filled with brilliant creativity, unique recipes and some very useful tips and tricks. The instructions are simple and to the point and make me believe I can make any cookie in this book and do it well. I love that!

Crazy About Cookies is the perfect addition to any collection and with a list price of just $17.99 the perfect gift for under $20!
