Most of my circle of friends are either pregnant or new mommies. This phenomenon might be more common if we were all twenty-something, but we are all nearing the BIG 4-0, and these aren’t our first babies, they are third, fourth, fifth, and sixth babies. We are truly blessed to be given the opportunity to be new parents, but most of us have given away our baby gear long ago, and now we have NO clue about the new technology that is available to moms today!
Fortunately, MomSelect and Britax sponsored the Pregnancy 2.0 party for ten new moms and moms-to-be. I was thrilled to be able to host my friends for a casual get-together where we looked at some of the newest products from Britax, BabyPlus, Rashti & Rashti, and Spry.
Britax generously sent me the B-Agile stroller, B-SAFE Infant Car Seat, and their award-winning baby carrier with seat extender insert for my friends and I to review.
We began with the baby carrier in black. The carrier was VERY easy to slip on and off. All of us thought that it was a much better design than our Baby Bjorn carriers that most of us have. It is also lightweight and one of my friends loved the waist belt to help distribute the weight of her baby. The one feature that everyone thought was genius was the removable cloth in the front. First, it is very soft for baby’s precious skin and second, it snaps on and off so that if baby spits up, Mommy can remove the cloth for washing instead of washing the whole carrier!
The Seat Extender Insert can be used with the Britax Baby Carrier once your child no longer requires the infant insert. The Seat Extender Insert is a removable support that provides a wider seating area by cradling Baby’s bottom and thighs, which allows your child to wrap his legs around your waist when facing inward through the entire use of the carrier. This helps with weight distribution. The extender zips into place. It is very easy to slip into the carrier, and would help to have your child’s legs wrapped around you in a more natural hold rather than hanging in front.
Britax B-Agile StrollerThe Britax B-Agile stroller is appropriate for children up to 55 pounds from birth. I LOVE this stroller. We have been through numerous strollers, and I had all but given up on finding a stroller for this new little one. MES never had a stroller until this summer on vacation; we bought an awful stroller so she wouldn’t have to walk so far. Every time we got the stroller out, I would kick it and want to run over it with my car because the thing was difficult to open and close, it was heavy to lift into the van, it was difficult to maneuver in tight spaces, it had very little storage – I could keep going! I remembered why we didn’t buy a new stroller for her and why we just used the baby backpack: convenience and ease of use.
Not for Little Bit, though. The Britax B-Agile stroller has one-hand, quick-fold with an AUTOMATIC chassis lock. I don’t have to fiddle with anything to keep it closed! It has a lightweight aluminum frame. It only weighs 16.5 pounds! I love the huge under seat storage and another additional pocket that has a zipper! This stroller is so easy to maneuver with its three-wheeled design. The seat reclines easily for when Baby falls asleep on walks, and it has an extra-large canopy with a ventilation window so that when Baby is little, Mommy can keep curious strangers at bay! All of my friends love this stroller also. One mom had chosen this stroller for her new baby, but, unfortunately, our Buy Buy Baby store did not carry the B-Agile.
The B-SAFE Infant Car Seat is compatible with the B-Agile stroller. All one needs to do is clip two small inserts into the frame, and VOILA! the car seat fits in the stroller perfectly. The B-SAFE Infant Car Seat accommodates from four to 30 pounds and up to 32-inches, which might come in handy now that the recommended age for rear-facing children is TWO! Hopefully, I will not have to test the safety features, but if I do, it has side impact protection, distributes crash forces, shields from vehicle intrusion, and contains the head and body. The tangle-free, five-point harness distributes crash forces across the strongest part s of the body and provides a secure fit. The one thing we found about the B-SAFE Infant Car Seat was that it was heavy. None of us can imagine carrying this car seat with a fifteen pound infant. However, it is very easy to take off the base, and the CLICK & GO adapter system makes it easy to attach and detach from the Britax B-Series strollers, so perhaps carrying the stroller wouldn’t be too much. My friends are very interested in safety, and this car seat provides the safety that they all want for their precious cargo.
We discussed the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System. I was surprised that one of my friends had looked at this system and was considering purchasing the system for her new baby. She had read the research and decided that this might be the perfect item to give her peace of mind that she was giving her pre-born baby all she could to give him / her a head start in life. How can any mom argue with that?!
Of course, every party needs drinks and sweets.
We had raspberry lemonade for refreshments. It was delicious and perfect for moms because it is PINK!
We also nibbled on some yummy appetizers and desserts. Don’t these look delicious?!
We played Pregnancy Pictionary. Oh my! I could tell that my friends were definitely having fun when the word LABOR was chosen – everyone was laughing, but no one could figure out what this pregnant woman was doing with a hammer!
At the end of the party, it was time to give away the gifts! Two lucky moms walked away with Rashti & Rashti Snuggle Buddies. Another mom was lucky to win the award-winning Britax Baby Carrier and Infant Seat Extender. Lastly, one pregnant mom promised to deliver news about her newborn’s demeanor after using the Baby Plus Prenatal Educational System for her last 16 weeks. She also promised to share with the newly pregnant mom who will be ready to use it when Heather delivers!
And every mom was happy to receive a gift bag full of Spry products, including Spry Dental Defense System sugarfree spearming chewing gum, Kid’s Spry Tooth Gel safe for ages 3 months and up, and Kid’s Xlear saline nasal spray safe for all ages.
We had a terrific time talking about babies, husbands with babies, and all of the new, interesting products there are for babies today. Another special thank you to Mom Select, Britax, and BabyPlus for a fun Pregnancy 2.0 Party!

Lauralee Saad loves homeschooling her three kiddos: Ballerina, age 8, Big Boy, age 6, and MESS, age 3. She enjoys sewing when she can find a spare corner to set up her machine and dig out fabrics, cooking and baking – especially if the kiddos are helping, and enjoying a good book after the kiddos have gone to bed. She is thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl into the family in March of 2012. |
