Hope is Delicious and Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Kitchen

Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, is excited to announce that the new website for the JBJ Soul Kitchen is now live. The is complete with photo galleries, videos and news stories. The site also has information on reservations and volunteer opportunities and will provide up-to-date information on the renovation process.

JBJ Soul Kitchen is founded by Jon Bon Jovi’s wife, Dorthea, whose vision is to see the eatery as a job-training center and community center. Plans include an organic garden in the front, which will provide food for the restaurant. The long-term goal is that the Red Bank kitchen be a template for JBJ Soul Kitchen to be established around the country and worldwide. JBJ Soul Kitchen is based on community restaurants in Denver, Colorado, and my hometown, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bongiovi and partner, Zeet Peabody, have been holding Soul Kitchen Sunday Suppers at both St. Anthony’s and Lunch Break for the past two years. Peabody is a former restaurateur and chef at the highly-rated Bistro Zeeto in Atlantic Highlandes.  Bongiovi believes people need to feel that they have a place to go – a place where people ask how you are and care about the answer. It’s about fellowship and it’s empowering for people to know they’ve earned their meal just like everyone else.

Located in Red Bank, NJ the Soul Kitchen is a community restaurant with no prices on the menus; customers pay what they can afford. If you are unable to pay, you may do volunteer work in exchange for your family’s meals. Our mission is to serve nutritious dinners in a warm and welcoming setting, where communities can come together.

Soul Kitchen is currently under construction and is in need of supplies that will enable us to serve our community. Donations made to this campaign will be used towards outfitting the inside of our Kitchen as we get ready for our Grand Opening. We will be using these funds to purchase silverware, place settings, serving dishes, glasses, appliances, and much more that is needed.

To help us outfit the inside of Soul Kitchen, please visit our donation page on our website. We thank you for your support!
