Confessions of a Catholic Cop Review

This summer I have enjoyed reading. One of the book I have just finished Confressions of a Catholic Cop was an attention getter from the beginning and kept me until the final page. It was like a great cop book should be: filled with action and suspense filled. It has a flair for mystery. These are the things that should be expected, since the book’s author, Thomas Fitzsimmons, is a former New York City cop.

Long ago, I visited New York. A taxi ride through the Bronx made this book really come to life for me. The characters are easily those encountered in New York, though not necessarily by first appearances. There’s the good cop, a corrupt cop, Fifth Avenue Executives, bar owners, and more.

Ten-year police veteran Michael Beckett has policing in his blood and knows no other life. Until by chance he lands a small role on Law & Order, and decides he can start a new life in front of the camera. But when the neighborhood of a young, hot Law & Order scriptwriter, Solana Ortiz, becomes the target of a string of arsons, Beckett uncovers a scheme that reaches into the deepest pockets of power and greed in New York City, and into the path of an old friend that Beckett will do almost anything to forget . . .

Confessions of a Catholic cop reminds me of crime shows on TRU TV. There’s the horrible tragedy, the oath to make things right and all the human characteristics that make us roll our eyes like greed, jealousy, fear combined with money, dogs and a young lady. It all comes together to make this a truly page turning read!

Whether you read this type of book or not, this is a must-read. It’s an amazing story filled with details so rich that you’ll feel like you’re part of the story.
