Woven Heart Basket

I received my first woven heart basket from a dear friend more than 20 years ago.

It was beautiful and such a great Valentine’s Day gift!

I love that this craft is easy and requires nothing more than two pieces of paper and a few minutes.

Once you have folded your paper, place the template on top, matching the “Place along Fold” end with the fold.

Here’s a tip!

Staple the pattern to your folded paper.

This will prevent the paper from moving and give you cleaner cuts.

Here are what your pieces will look like after you’ve cut them out according to the pattern.

Hold one strip folded shut in one hand and the other strip open with your fingers.

Thread the folded strip through the center of the open strip.

Work both edges up as high as you can against the beginning of the cut strip.

Note: Traditional weaving is over and under.

For this pattern, you’ll go through and over the strips.

Continue weaving until you finish the first row. Here’s what you’ll see outside…This is with two rows complete.
