The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Quilting Basics Review

Fabric is something I can look at all day. Recently, my mother in law and I went to The Festival of Trees. While the trees were breath-taking, I was enchanted by the quilts. I have many that my mother has made, a couple I have made and they are perfect for chilly weather or just for decorating.

Growing up, I have fond memories of my mother quilting. It was relaxing for her, and I was always delighted to watch the colorful fabric pieces transform into a beautiful quilt. There are so many designs and the fabric patterns and textures really make a quilt come to life.

In  The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Quilting Basics the art of quilting is covered from the fundamentals needed to begin quilting and create successful projects and designs.

There are detailed instructions to take the reader through each step of the process:

•    Choosing a design and fabric
•    Cutting and piecing
•    Appliquéing
•    Assembling quilt top with batting and backing
•    Quilting by hand or machine
•    Finishing the edges

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Quilting Basics Review

I love this book! While sewn before, I found many useful tips through the chapters. I really enjoyed the chapter Using Your Sewing Machine. It has some great hints for machine piecing and quick methods for joining blocks.

The instructions are clear, and plenty of illustrations help throughout the book.

This book is great for anyone just starting or someone more skilled. There are some great patterns, tips, and guidance to make a quilt worthy of future generations.
