150 BEST Tagine Recipes Review

I love to cook so how is it I had never heard of Tagine? Up until I received the book 150 best Tagine Recipes I still didn’t know what it was. In case you’ve been under the same rock, I was, Tagine is a Moroccan dish and the name for the post in which the dish is cooked.
150 Best Tagine Recipes: Including Tantalizing Recipes for Spice Blends and Accompaniments
The pot is formally described as a large, shallow pot with a conical lid. I prefer to describe it as a genie lamp. Nothing formal here. According to The Spruce, Tagines cook by slow simmering meats, vegetables and a medley of herbs and spices. It all adds to the dishes taste and texture.

So I now know what a Tangine is, but I’m wondering what to do with it…then I opened the book and discovered a whole season of recipes that had me drooling.  There are recipes that just the names rolling off my tongue make me hungry…recipes like Pomegranate Molasses (I love Pomegranate anything) and when you add it to Citrus Tagine Chicken I’m digging in!

There’s a recipe for a Coconut Eggplant… doesn’t this combination have you curious?

There’s chicken with Dried Fruit and Peppers (page 61), Beef, Leek and Onion Tagine (page 99), Fennel, Artichoke and Potato Tagine (page 139).

In looking through this book, I’ve also concluded that Moroccan’s are big fans of chickpeas. There are a lot of recipes that incorporate the chickpea into them. Recipes like: Golden Chicken with Potatoes and Chickpeas (page 66), Fish and Chickpeas with Pomegranate and Roasted Red Peppers (page 116), HOt and Spicy Chickpeas and Almonds ()page 166) and more!

I love introducing new foods to my family, and I really enjoy learning new cooking techniques. I have a tagine on my wish list and then I only have to decide which recipe will debut in it!

The 150 Best Tagine Cookbook offers an informative look at the tagine cooking method. I was especially smitten with the “Tagine Know-How” section that seems to answer every possible question about tangines and cooking with one. I also found the history of this cooking method interesting…great conversation starters for dinner.

This book is a great addition to any kitchen and whether coupled with a beautiful tagine or alone, it makes a great gift for any cook.
