There were once three sixth graders: MacKenie, Caroline, and Dylanie. All three of them were at Dylaine’s house for a sleepover on a very dark and stormy day, which all three of them really hated; they much rather preferred a nice, and sunny day where they could play their favorite video game “Candy Days”, but sadly they had to play on a stormy day.
While they were playing, Caroline wished they could be in the game. MacKenzie and Dylainie laughed at her statement. After about 10-minutes they started to become digital and then with a big “POOF!” They all appeared in the candy world that they were playing in. Once they realized where they were, all three of them let out a horrific scream.
Soon after they were trying to make a plan on how to get home. None of them had a good idea, so they decided to go and explore the land that they thought was so magical. While walking, they started to become exhausted as well as hungry so they stopped and sat at they stump of a dark chocolate bark tree with mint chocolate leaves. When they were resting Caroline said, “Why don’t we eat some of the red licorice vines?” MacKenzie and Dylainie looked at each other scared.
After an awkward silence, Dylainie was the first to speak. She quoted, “What doesn’t kill you, makes your stronger!” Then went to go eat the red licorice vines. When she bit the vine she immediately said, “De-LIC-ious!”
They sat there for about 30-minutes eating all of the vines.
Almost immediately after finishing the vines they each fell asleep one by one. Dylainie was the last to fall asleep.
They woke up at sunrise, which in the game was about five in the morning real life time. Once they were wide awake they kept exploring so that they could hopefully find a way out.
When they were exploring, they saw two gingerbread men–or ladies? Their names were Nytera and Alexis. They were BFF’s from all the icing on their feet to the gumdrops on their shirts. They said that they would stick together forever like gum. The girls asked Alexis and Nytera if they wanted to come on their adventure with them. They both said, “Is candy sweet?”
MacKenzie, Dylainie, and Caroline all said, confused, “Ok? We will take that as a yes.”When they were walking they saw a castle made of gingerbread. Nytera said, “Oh, that is Queen Boyd’s castle.”
“No way”, said Mackenzie. The Creator of Candy Days?”
“Yeah, what’s the big deal?” asked Alexis.
“What the big deal?! ” Caroline screamed. “the big deal is she is like a goddess to us human video gamers, ” said Dylainie trying to stay calm.
They were almost there when they were attacked by gummy bears with licorice whips and Gobstopper grenades. Nytera and Alexis said scared, “This is very unusual.” All that they had been pieces of rock candy. When they got the pieces out of their pink and blue backpacks they started playing dodge ball. The rock candy was stuck in their bodies like a turtle in his shell.
The war was finally over. It was not a short one, though, for all of the girls needed a short break before getting to the castle. Alexis and Nytella had a treehouse nearby that they could all take a break at. MacKenzie was imagining a very small piece of wood balancing on a branch. Wow, did she know she was wrong. It was a mansion. The three girls were amazed.
They took a fifteen-minute break and then they were back on their way to Queen Boyd’s gingerbread castle, which, by now, was 0.3-miles away. When they started to walk they all felt blinded by the Starburst sun.
Once they reached the delicious castle, they saw no sight of Queen Boyd. They asked all the guards and jesters if they had seen her, but they had no luck. After exploring the whole castle, they all decided she was not there. Which meant a new quest. They had to find her or else the whole game was going to crumble like a dry cookie.
Since they had no clue where she ways, they kept trying to solve their first quest on getting home. They were still going to try to find Queen Boyd. Hopefully, this would be a short adventure. Sadly, they did not know how long it really would be to find Queen Boyd, let alone how to get home from this disaster.
When it became night and the sky was the color of black licorice, the girls were not tired, so they kept walking through the night. While walking, they came upon the Warhead Warriors, Montana, and Lauren. Some would say that they were the sourest in the land. Everyone was afraid of them because of how bitter they were.
They girls tried walking out of the way. Dylainie whispered, “We have to get out of the way–and fast!”
“Yeah! Totally.” the rest whispered.
Then a candy speak went right through the tree that they were standing by. All of the girls screamed and ran for a Lifesaver. Neither of the warriors was going to leave them out in the woods by themselves.
Once they thought that the warriors were far, far away, they stopped running and took a break because they were really tired. As they were resting, Alexis heard a soft ruffling in the trees but kept it to herself. Then with a loud “PLOP!” the two Warhead Warriors came down and started to fight. All the girls were wondering what to do. MacKenzie went to grab some of the chocolate milk from the river and poured it on them. After all the milk was poured on them, they became the sweetest things.
Almost all of the girls were amazed at what MacKenzie had done. They all wondered how it worked. MacKenzie said excitedly, “Milk helps make sour and spicy things less sour, or spicy”.
“Wow! Where did you learn that? asked Nytera.
“I don’t know”, MacKenzie shrugged.
They sat by the chocolate milk river fishing for Swedish Fish with their special candy fishing rods. All of the girls caught a fish. They decided not to cook them. While Caroline was dreaming, she saw Queen Boyd trapped in a Juicy Drop Pop Jail. Caroline immediately woke up and it was already morning. She woke the rest of the girls and told them about her dream. All of the girls were astonished by her weird dream.
It took them about one hour to fully awaken and eat. After breakfast, they asked Caroline where was the place in her dream? Caroline stated, “It looked like a very small lollipop forest.”
“Ok. Ok. Anything else?” asked Dylainie.
“Um, No.” Caroline said confused.
We finally made it to a lollipop forest, but is this the right one?” questioned Dylainie, hoping that they were there.
Caroline screamed, “Yes! This is it! The forest in my dreams. She would be right over here.”
There she was, the Queen! They were all so amazed by how magical the Juicy Drop Pop Jail looked!
“That was not the point, ” Caroline stated.
“Oh, yeah! Sorry!” the rest said.
“Let’s get the Queen out!” screamed Dylainie.
There they went to save the Queen once and for all. What was going to stop them? Green Gummy Worm Guards who did not want to let the Queen go. The girls needed a plan and fast!
Nytera came up with a plan. Her plan was to go in the Juicy Pop Drop Jain and talk to the guards. Once that was done the others would go and break the jail open for the Queen. Everyone thought that her idea was cool. When everyone knew their part, they began to break in. their plan had worked! The got Queen Boyd out. Queen Boyd was so amazed on how they had saved her.
Alexis said to Queen Boyd, “Well, do you know how to get out of this candy nutshell?”
“In fact, I do,” said Queen Boyd.
After a couple of seconds, Alexis said trying no to get angry, “Ok. Well, how do we?”
“Oh. right!” said the Queen laughing. “You see that Skittles rainbow over there?”
“Yea,” the girls said confused.
“Well, you have to find a way on to the rainbow.” answered the Queen.
“Are you joking?” they yelled.
“Nope!” the Queen replied.
“You are not much help!” Alexis muttered.
“I heard that!” the Queen said.
“Oh. Sorry!” Alexis said frightened. “It’s not a problem. Don’t worry about it; just don’t do it again!” the queen demanded.
“It’s not a problem. Don’t worry about it; just don’t do it again!” the queen demanded.
“I”m sorry. Please don’t be mad!” Alexis cried.
They all said their farewells to the Queen. Now they were on their way to the Skittles rainbow.
“We’re on our way to the delicious Skittles rainbow.” Caroline kept repeating.
After about 12-minutes, they didn’t feel any closer, but farther. “How could this be?”Dylainie said frustrated.
“I know what it is,” said Nytera. “It’s a turtle. There must have been some candy slime on our Swedish Fish.”
“Oh, no!” all the girls cried.
“We’re never going to get to the rainbow!” MacKenzie moaned.
“Don’t worry. Calm down.” Said Dylainie in a soothing tone.
After almost 10-hours of walking they arrived at the Skittles rainbow. They could not get on because of the Troll. Troll Ashton. He said each girl needed one Skittle to get on.
Dylanie shouted, “Watch out!” Then did a flip and ended with a bruce Lee Karate kick into the rainbow.
MacKenzie immediately said, “Feel the rainbow. Taste the rainbow.”
As fast as they could they ran on the rainbow. Dylainie was laughing her butt off. They all got tired when they started going up the rainbow’s hill. “I see the end!” Caroline screamed.
They were finally at the end of the rainbow. There’s only one way to get out of this world. The only thing stopping them was Michael the Leprechaun. Michael would have to give them a sweet chocolate coin.
Once Michael the Leprechaun gave them the coin they all were so excited to leave. All of them almost immediately went through, but there was something stopping them. They thing was that they had made two fun friends and went through some fun challenges.
They all thought about it and jumped through the perfect portal. When they were in the real world they all looked at the time. It had not moved at all. The one thing that had changed was Nytera and Alexis, the gingerbreads, were now both human.
Almost a year later, all the girls were still best friends. The girls even wrote a story about their journey. The book is in your hands right now.
