Pop the Bubbles123 A FUNdamentals Book Review

Our Pop the Bubbles 123: A FUNdamentals Book Review

Our Pop the Bubbles 123 copy came in the mail a few months ago.  I opened the package to preview it, got sidetracked by a phone call, and the next thing I knew my preschooler hi-jacked the wonderfully written and adorably illustrated book!

Join Chloe and Bryce on their fun-filled adventure learning to count in Pop the Bubbles 123: A FUNdamentals book by Jennifer Goble. A day at their FUN class has them bouncing, jumping, popping, tapping, and climbing all the way to number 10. You and your child can play along as the numbers come alive!

We read it every day, and although we don’t have Jennifer Goble’s awesome Parent and Me classes in our area, MES still likes to re-enact the bouncing, jumping, and playing that Chloe and Bryce participate with their classmates!

Each page is cheerful and bright and appeals to pre-schoolers.  The story flows well and has the perfect cadence for reading aloud, which I love!  Chloe and Bryce are glum that the day is so gray outside and they cannot play, but Mom knows that FUNdamentals class will cheer them up.  Their time at their class with their teacher is joyous and BOUNCY!  The illustrations by Mark Wayne Adams really show the energy and joy that FUN class brings to all of the children who participate.

Jennifer Goble gives plenty of opportunity for counting in her book also.  As a parent reads to her child, they can count to ten on each page.  The numbers are large and easy to read giving the child ample opportunity for number recognition and counting.  I love the page with the obstacle course because it requires MES to find the numbers that are out of order.  It’s a great challenge for MES to identify the numbers on that page.

At the end of the story, the children are sad that the class is ending, but their teacher has a surprise:  BUBBLES!  I love the words:  “She pulled out the bottle of bubbles and she blew them into the air; those fat bubbles went SPLAT! On their noses, and toes, and fingers, and hair!”  Reading those words and seeing adorable children popping bubbles is so much fun.  On the next page, the child counts the bubbles before they flee.

This book is so much fun to read over and over again.  It will surely bring a smile and big BOUNCE to your child’s reading library!

Lauralee Saad loves homeschooling her three kiddos: Ballerina, age 8, Big Boy, age 6, and MESS, age 3.  She enjoys sewing when she can find a spare corner to set up her machine and dig out fabrics, cooking and baking – especially if the kiddos are helping, and enjoying a good book after the kiddos have gone to bed.  She is thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl into the family in March of 2012.
