Tired of your usual vacation and looking for something more adventurous and fun to do?
Check out one of these five unusual tours and trips from around the world from Paris to California and few stops in between..
1. IceHotel Jukkasjarvi, Sweden
Established in 1989, the IceHotel is one of the world’s only hotels made entirely of ice and snow.
It is created anew every year by artists who create their works in the rooms and lobby, so the hotel is always a little different.
This breathtaking hotel is perfect for those who love cold weather but make sure to book a room before spring, as the warmer weather causes the hotel to melt away completely.
2. Leshan Giant Buddha, Sichuan, China
Standing almost 233 feet tall, the Leshan Giant Buddha carving was made in the 8th century and carved into the side of a mountain for all to see.
It’s a fun and weird piece of Sichuan and holds the honor of being the largest known image of the Buddha in the world.
3. Ice Hotel, Quebec
Much like Sweden’s IceHotel, this hotel is built entirely from ice and snow in January and is gone by May.
This frozen lodging features furniture that is also made from ice, with a mix of activities for guests that include dog sledding, ice fishing, an ice bar, and a sauna.
It is known as Hôtel de Glace in French.
4. Moaning Cavern, Vallecito, California
Located in the small town of Vallecito, the Moaning Cavern, a cave chamber, was discovered by native Americans.
It is now a huge tourist attraction that offers activities like walking tours, rappelling, zip lines, a climbing tower, and an adventure trip.
The 45-minute walking tour is popular with families and showcases the entire cave system.
It’s a system of caves large enough to hold the Statue of Liberty.
Visitors staying in San Francisco hotels can easily take a day trip to Vallecito, which is less than three hours away.
5. The Catacombs, Paris, France
These spooky underground vaults hold the remains of around 6 million people and date back to the 18th century.
The catacombs themselves are actually the remains of ancient stone mines from centuries ago.
Stay at a nearby hotel in Paris and take the chance to explore this macabre marvel.
