Growing up I loved Strawberry Shortcake. At the time it was just Strawberry Shortcake and her pet cat, Custard. The era 1977 and her creator Muriel Fahrion, illustrated her in American Greeting cards. Her cuteness was a hit and Cindy Mayer Patton and Janet Jones created the later characters of the Strawberry Shortcake classic line.
Muriel Fahrion and his sister had even bigger success when he designed the first rag doll and his sister, Susan Trental, created her.
Now there is a full line of Strawberry Shortcake characters, each has their own fruit or dessert-themed name with clothing to match. They also have pets to match. Their hair is scented to match their dessert namesake and they all live and play in a magical world known as Strawberryland.
For my daughter, the love of Strawberry Shortcake continues into her generation and we love the action figures and the DVDs.
The spotlight shines on the importance of being true to yourself in Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Tales. Join Plum in “Snowberry and the Seven Berrykins” as she learns to believe in herself when putting on a small and simple play for a young audience. In “Berryella and Prince Berry Charming,” Huck agrees to be in a production, but then quickly realizes that he’d be happier behind the scenes. Strawberry, Lemon and Raspberry star as three princesses on a quest to rule a kingdom in “The Littlest Berrykin,” and realize that they can never succeed without kindness and generosity. With berry important lessons, it’s curtain up on good times and friendship!
