“Strapped Belts” Goes For the Olympic Gold With the Women’s US Ski Team!
We’re all waiting to see if the bad weather is going to postpone the 2010 Winter Olympics Alpine Skiing Women’s Giant Slalom Event scheduled for today (1PM EST) at Whistler Creekside.
A month ago, I did a feature on John Frechette of Strappedbelts.com.
Based out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Exciting things have been happening for Frechette and Strapped Belts since then–they are the newest sponsor for three amazing Olympic athletes: Sarah Schleper, Hailey Duke and Megan McJames.
These three contenders for the Gold recently flew into Jackson from Vancouver British Colombia where they walked in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Frechette met up with the Women’s Ski Team Members at Snow King Resort to get them ready for the Olympics in true Strappedbelts.com fashion.
They enjoyed a day off from training doing a photoshoot with their new Strapped Belts bling!
Frechette says “Strapped Belts” fits in well as an Olympic Sponsor because “the athletes are all about having fun.
They are serious athletes but anytime you talk about being an Olympian they get the biggest smile!
Strappedbelts.com fits perfectly the girls loved it, and couldn’t wait to rock some handmade bling around the Olympic Village.
It is all about being the best and looking good doing it!”
Megan McJames sports a Moose buckle and strap.
Complimented by large glass rings and Pink Glass with Black graffiti earrings from Strapped Belts.com in the photo.
John is always testing his creativity with the fused glass.
I asked him which Strapped Belts piece he felt represents the spirit of the Olympics best and the answer let me in on a SECRET! “The girls arrived in Vancouver and called and asked me to make American Flags for them and all the Coaches of the US Ski Team! They are not available to the public yet, but keep an eye on the Today Show because if Sarah, Hailey, or Megan get interviewed they will have it on.”
Just look at how Strapped Belts’ Wyoming Flag Buckle, Cobalt Blue Rectangle Earrings and matching ring have Hailey Duke practicing her victory smile for the center podium after her event!
Frechette gave me his TOP 3 moments of this amazing opportunity, working with Olympians –
* The first came via email….”We are so excited to meet you and see your studio, but how do we know you are not some sort of Facebook -killer!? Classic, but we got past this fear pretty quickly.
*Second was seeing their faces when they looked at the buckles and jewelry. I was so excited to meet them, and somehow they were so excited to meet me.
and the third was a moment etched in film…
You can view the entire photoshoot on the Strapped Belts Blog.
As we wait for the weather at Whistler Creek to clear, why not head over to strappedbelts.com and see the great selection of glass fused belts, rings, earrings, and cufflinks?
