Cookies. I like them warm out of the oven. I like them a few days in right out of the cookie jar. I like them with milk. I like them without milk. I like cookies.
This week we had the opportunity to review some fancy cookies from the oven of Stella & Flo.
I’ve cut, baked and decorated my share of cookies.
They take a lot of time and patience.
Stella and Flo’s Finest Hand-Decorated Cookies
Stella and Flo offer delicious, fresh baked cookies, decorated with attention to detail, bright, vivid colors, delivered right to your door. The cookies themselves taste incredible. They are crisp and buttery.
We were sent bees, flowers, the sun, and a thank you cookie.
It was the last day of school, so the kiddos opened the package as if it was theirs.
The packaging was beautiful. MacKenzie said, “It looks like whatever is in her is a whole lot of happy!”
And then one by one, they took out the Stella and Flo cookies.
Each individually wrapped.
Every cookie is a piece of art. Each Hand-Decorated Cookie is beautiful!
The icing colors are bright and bold, like summer.
There is so much detail in the cookies.
MacKenzie loves the sparkle on the bees’ wings. It gives them such a delicate, fun look.
Each of the flowers has its own unique center. From candy beads.
To sugar crystals.
As someone whose baked cookies, I was impressed by how uniform each cookie is. They are all similar in size, with crisp, clean edges.
I love the contrasting colors of the cookies. Each color complements the other making it all pop!
Stella and Flo have experience in making cookies. Every year, when they were litter, at Christmas their mother would bake cut-out cookies. She would frost them and then let her girls put the sprinkles on them. It was a family tradition that, as adults, they continued with their children and grandchildren.
When Stella’s oldest granddaughter, Madison wanted to learn to decorate cakes, Stella and Madison headed to their local Hobby Lobby and took a Wilton Class. It was a very good time and they completed three different classes.
One of Stella’s co-workers made and sold homemade cards on Etsy. The coworker wanted Stella to start an Etsy store so she could send them the link and get 40 free listings. Stella agreed to help her and decided what her store would sell.
Stella’s sister, Flo, does everything! Knits, dyes yarn, sews, bakes, makes soap, you name it–she’s done it and does it very well.
For Stella, baking cut-out cookies seem to be the one thing she could do and do well, so it began. She started with vanilla flavored cookies. She would bake and decorate them for practice. That’s when her family told her they were getting tired of eating cookies, so she brought the “practice” cookies to work.
One of Stella’s co-workers said, “these are good but do you have any other flavors?”
It was a new challenge for Stella, so she began creating different flavors. Stella and Flo’s now offers cookies in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry (with real strawberries), peanut butter, red velvet (Madison’s favorite), peppermint, pumpkin spice (Stella and Flo’s Aunt’s favorite), chocolate chip (we received these), ginger snap, orange, and lemon.
Growing up, the two sisters, went by their real names, Phyllis and Sharon. They were close, but Phyllis never liked her name, so they would play and came up with new names, Phyllis took on Stella and Sharon became Flo.
When Stella was an adult, with five children (4 boys and 1 girl), who sometimes drove her crazy, she’d tell her kiddos that she was going to move to Arizona and work at a diner as a waitress and call herself “Stella.” It would clam her children down.
If she could change her name, she’d be called Stella all the time.
Flo has four sons.
Stella now boasts she also has four grandsons and four granddaughters.
Ask Stella what her favorite cookies are to decorate, and she will tell you, “The breast cancer awareness cookies.”
It’s a cookie that she has a connection with because four years ago, Stella was diagnosed with breast cancer. She now enjoys decorating these cookies for her “sisters” who are celebrating the completion of their process or celebrating a new year of being cancer free. It gives Stella and Flo an opportunity to pray for them–something the two do for each order they fill.
The two also love decorating Christmas cookies, after all, that’s where it all started. Who doesn’t love Christmas!
