I’m revisiting the process for Giveaways. Lately there seems to be an onslaught of folks who click they have completed the task, however, when it comes to verifying the deed was actually done, it hasn’t been fulfilled. This automatically disqualifies that person from being the winner. A new person is drawn. In the past two weeks there have been many giveaways were a winner has been selected, sometimes as often as seven times, before finding one who did what the requirement was.
In addition to the many redraws at verification, I’m running into many winners who are not confirming their win within 48 hours and having to begin the process of choosing a winner again. Matters become fuzzy when I’ve redrawn and the original winner writes–sometimes as far out as two months after their notification prize to claim the prize.
To further complicate the process, many sponsors are very generous and offer multiple prizes for multiple winners. There becomes a delay while we select, verify, notify and wait for winners to confirm their prize.
I will always work with you if you confirm within the designated time frame…following up with sponsors, etc. I ask that you allow 4-6 weeks for a prize to be delivered before reaching out to me.
Once I send the information to the sponsor, I will send you an email that notifies you that the sponsor has been contacted with the information for prize fulfillment. Sometimes this email will come from me within minutes of receiving your confirmation email, other times, it may have a delay of a week, depending on how many winners and how quickly they were to reply.
Please know that many times I receive nothing for setting up and hosting the giveaway. I do it because I love my readers and as a way to say “Thank you” for helping us grow. Sometimes I use my own money to sponsor a prize. Sometimes I work with other bloggers and am at the hostesses mercy (I’m sure they run into the same issues I do).
Going forward winners will have 24 hours to reply to the winning email.
I encourage you to also review our disclosure policy.
