The 2019 Precious Moments Collectors Club Theme:
Each year, the Precious Moments Collectors Club has a theme. For 2019, the theme is SHARING LOVE PEACE AND HARMONY WITH THE WORLD.
3 of the Exclusive Members Only Collectors’ Club Figurines:
- “All Are Precious in His Sight”
- “Blessed Are The Peacemakers”
- “Be The Change You Wish To See In The World ”
I was offered one of three amazing and exclusive members-only figurines to review. It was a difficult decision because all three resonated with me in one way or another. In the end, the one I connected with the most was Be the Change You Wish to See in the World.
You may recognize the figurine name as a quote by Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi famously said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” In other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change so we can rise to the challenge and become a bigger and better person as a result.
Mahatma Gandhi certainly was the change he wanted to see in the world. He led India’s independence movement in the 1930s and 40s by speaking softly without carrying much of a big stick, facing down the British colonialists with stirring speeches and non-violent protest.
1. Change yourself.
“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
2. You are in control.
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”
3. Forgive and let it go.
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
4. Without action , you aren’t going anywhere.
“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”
5. Take care of this moment.
“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”
6. Everyone is human.
“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
8. See the good in people and help them.
“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”
9. Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self.
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
10. Continue to grow and evolve.
”Constant development is the law of life and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”
And while most of us aren’t destined for the greatness of Gandhi, we can still evoke change. We can start within ourselves. That change expands into our family. From there it filters into our community. It’s a ripple that just keeps moving outwards, sparking change.
The details in the Precious Moments Be the Change You Wish to See in the World are beautiful.
The Precious Moments figurine features both a boy and a girl. One is blonde, one a brunette. They are working together to acheive a common goal. They don’t see each other as different, just as a partner to accomplish the goal of mending a crack in the world. A reminder that a small act of kindness can help mend small things and heal bigger things.
