Sometimes I see something on Pinterest that wears on me until I try it. We’ve had great success with the Melted Crayon Art, but this week, I made a recipe I found on Pinterest and it was an EPIC FAIL.
Let’s talk about the Cheese Olive and Buttermilk Herb Bread Recipe. I saw this picture:
I read the recipe and while it required some conversion I decided it would be a great bread to make for my family. So I spent the afternoon baking it. I used a kitchen scale for the ingredients that were in grams and double checked everything before I added it to ensure I followed the recipe precisely. It’s how I make all new recipes.
Out of the oven, mine looked very much like the picture:
I thought it would be spectacular made into Grilled Cheese Sandwiches…my kiddos favorite meal. They took one bite and said, “Mom, I don’t like this bread.”
So I made another batch of Grilled Cheese with Asiago bread and they devoured them. My husband wouldn’t eat his Grilled Cheese either. Usually, I am the garbage disposal. I hate to see food go to waste. I took everyone’s sandwich and put them on a plate. I tried a piece while I was making the new round of grilled cheese and have to agree with my family…GROSS! There was a taste of baking soda that was pungent and the flavor of the bread over all was not complimentary.
I gave our dog a triangle of sandwich. She pranced off with it, and then ate the cheese from between the bread and left it at that.
It’s the first time we’ve had a Pinterest Fail. This bread was nasty…even our pooch wouldn’t touch it.
