Personal Microderm Abrasion (PMD) #Review

Sharing is caring!

As I grow older and the tolls of poor choices in my youth become more apparent in my skin and body, the more determined I am to find a solution. I realize what’s done is done and I can’t go back, however, I know that I can delay the process of aging and make better choices. I’ve stopped using soap on my face and now use facial cleansers. I exfoliate once a week. It hasn’t been enough.

I’ve gone to spas for facial treatments and heard rave reviews about microderm abrasion treatments. The issue is that they are out of my price range to even experience to see if there really is a different. Now, thanks to Personal Microderm Abrasion, I’m pampering my face at home and discovering amazing results.

My regret in this review is the day my PMD arrived, I had been at the dermatologist to have three growths removed. They were the result of fake and bakes in my teenage years followed by constant sun worship in my twenties during a decade in Miami, Florida. With wounds induced by a very sharp razor above my eyebrow, the tip of my nose and the side of my nose, a picture was not in the forefront of my mind.

The next day, I followed the doctor’s orders and washed my face, which was precisely the right time to give the PMD a spin. I had watched endless videos on the PMD website as well as youtube and so I did the trial with the practice tip. I felt confident in my ability to do this so I switched to the blue tip for a “let’s do this” run!

It was easy. Incredibly easy.

PMD device

The device itself looks similar to a dremel tool.

setting up the PMD device

At the tip of the device a small, soft pad is placed over the tip receptical. This will be the filter that captures the skin that is removed from the area where the PMD is used.

Body PMD tip
Then the microderm abrasion tip is placed on the tip receptical over the filter. In the picture I have the larger microderm abrasion tip installed. The PMD can be used on the face or on the body. Trust me, as you use this tool, you’ll love this option!

The PMD device is now ready to use

Once the tip is securely in place, twist the protective cap onto the PMD Device.

PMD on and off button

The device is ready to use, from here just plug the cord into the bottom of the PMD device, turn it slightly and activate the power button by sliding the button into the “on” position.

If you notice between the green tip and the protective cap you can see a lip. This is a guard, so to speak. With the device on, pull the skin where you will be using the PMD tight and following the contour of your face, rest the “guard” against your skin and glide it up the skin. There is a slight suction that takes place as the tip spins and gently exfoliates your skin.

After the first use, I was hooked. My skin was incredibly soft. I told everyone to “touch my face”. Everyone commented on how smooth and soft it was! That evening as I followed my beauty regiment and washed my face I noticed a difference in how my cleaner worked. It was amazing. My skin also absorbed my face serum much better.

When I woke up, my skin was still incredibly smooth.

The Personal Microderm Abrasion device is recommended to be used a maximum of once per week. I’ve used it twice and am just so impressed by the change in my skin. In appearance it is smoother and more radiant. My skin cleansers and products are far more effective and I’m noticing a firmer texture in areas around my jawline.

When used correctly the PMD is gentle. I have used it over my skin growth removal sores and it did not induce bleeding. They have healed much quicker than my dad’s and my scarring looks to be minimal in comparison.

There are three different tips, with different textures so the PMD is something that you can grow with in your skin care. From the blue tip, which is gentle to the red tip which is much rougher.

The PMD does leave my skin red, like a sunburn for about 15 minutes after I use it.

My largest learning curve has been the nose area. I am still learning the best way to get the PMD to work as it’s hard to press my nose flat. I did notice the second time I used it I had better skill, so I’m hoping I will adapt.

Forget about going to the spa for a microderm abrasion treatment. The Personal Microderm Abrasion device offers the same aluminum oxide crystals as the professions use. This device is a beauty must-have and investment as it smooths away dead skin cells, diminshes age spots, fine wrinkles and other signs of aging.

The PMD will have you putting your BEST face forward.
