Why I love Marshamallow Peeps

The PEEPS & COMPANY® products, information, and additional gift pack have been provided by PEEPS & COMPANY®.

Nothing quite says Spring to me like seeing the rows of marshmallow PEEPS on the grocery shelves. I have to admit, I find it difficult to resist these little “twirps”. Their spring pastel colors lure me closer. My mouth drools as I catch a glisten of their sugary coating and that cellophane isn’t nearly strong enough to keep me out of the box once I’ve paid for it…sadly, I know this because PEEPS never make it to my house!

It hasn’t always been like this for me. You know, I’ve not always been a PEEP addict. There was a time before I was ten when I never knew the deliciousness of a PEEP. It was my grandmother who made me the PEEP junkie I am today.

I was ten, the oldest in a gang of grandchildren.

In our Easter best we stormed through her house in search of the hidden plastic eggs filled with the pebbles of jelly beans.

Then, while outside, something magical happened.

The Easter Bunny lined up our baskets, filled to the brim with amazing treats.

I ran towards mine and spotlights shot through the sky and focused on a box of four yellow PEEPS.

They were beautiful!

I busted them free from their confining cage and pulled them gently apart.

“What is this?” I asked.

My grandma smiled and told me to “take a bite”.

I marveled at it and then I stuck my tongue out and licked it.

It chirped to shove it in my mouth.

I obeyed.

The sugar coating crunched and mesmerized.

The marshmallow melted into gooey heaven.

I devoured the other three and then it happened.

I stole them from the siblings and cousins!

I ate them, right in front of them.

I didn’t care.

I continue this same behavior even now.

My husband has to hide them before their debut Easter morning otherwise, my children will never experience PEEPs.

I’m a bad mom.

It’s even better with PEEPS!

I created a Chalkboard Pot for an Easter basket with this tutorial.

Once the PEEPS are gone, it converts to a planter for the house.
