It’s spring and for many of us that means spring cleaning.
I live with folks who think cleaning means shoving it all in a closet, under the bed or behind a door.
My dad is a janitor for a school system and he preaches to me all the time about how cleaning is a process of steps.
He recommends starting here and wiping this, using that and it goes on and on until my head spins.
I want my family to be healthy, but I also don’t want to be a slave to cleaning.
I want to be able to enjoy the people I love too.
This is something I love about LYSOL.
They are introducing the concept of Healthing.
It’s easier than my dad’s version and a lot healthier than my children’s version.
It’s an idea centered on keeping families as healthy as possible, by looking beyond just cleaning and ensuring that the proper steps are taken to stay well.
We use Lysol wipes in between deep cleaning.
They are convenient and disinfect without effort.
They are perfect for door knobs, light switches, counters and toys.
As a child I remember my mom using the can of Lysol and I have carried that tradition into our home.
I gently spray the bathroom down after I have cleaned it for a fresh smell and disinfecting power.
Lysol recognizes that little things we do everyday impact our health.
It doesn’t have to be cold and flu season, nor Spring Cleaning.
Everyday should be one we Healthing.
It’s about adopting a healthier overall lifestyle instead of just tackling the surface.
It’s about having more than a show-room clean home.
It’s about a healthy home.
A brand many of us grew up with, Lysol creates their products to kill 99.9 percent of germs and offer a convenient way to disinfect.
There is a difference between cleaning and disinfecting.
Cleaning is important and gives us an immediate sense of productivity.
It kills germs on commonly touched surfaces and lowers the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between family members.
For Lysol, Helathing goes beyond the product and reaches into the community to give education and motivation to help keep a healthy family and home.
They do this by:
Connecting with 65,000 schools to promote healthy habits and good hygiene
Providing educational programs that reach 50 percent of new moms with health and wellness related to caring for their newborns.
Working with trusted third-party organizations to promote the ideas that Healthing embodies, which include the National PTA, the Global Hygiene Council and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, to name a few.
LYSOL is committed to speaking the words about Healthing, they’ve partnered with television personality Giuliana Rancic, to visit YMCAs in select markets across the country to demonstrate Healthing in action.
At each YMCA location, LYSOL will provide attendees with hands-on education about the products and steps required to practice improved hygiene habits in their own home, while making the idea fun and relatable to kids.
LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the local YMCAs, along with the donation of a one-year membership to a deserving family!
In your home, you can begin Healthing with these eight tips from LYSOL:
Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you
– take it one room at a time and stock up on products that will help you to get the job done effectively, including LYSOL products, paper towels, sponges, and trash bags.
Know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting!
Both are important components of the Healthing process and LYSOL has products that can help with all related tasks.
While cleaning and organizing is certainly important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family.
Start with the basics –
wipe down easy to reach surfaces and then move onto the little nooks and crannies.
Remember to dust around wall art, photographs and woodwork.
Use a disinfectant product, like LYSOL Disinfecting Wipes,
-to help ensure you’re killing germs as you clean, and think beyond the usual places.
Be sure to clean even the smallest surfaces, such as light switches.
Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
Make it a family activity and tailor tasks to specific age groups.
Give younger children simpler, one-step tasks like dusting or picking toys up off the floor, and save the more complex jobs, such as vacuuming, scrubbing, and disinfecting for older members of the family.
Remember to practice proper hand washing as well after you clean, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer.
Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
