Ready for the best sleep of your life? The Lull Mattress has changed the sleep game at our house.
Let’s face it; the holidays are stressful. I know this as an adult, but I also see it in my children.
MacKenzie is my child that has always been afraid she will miss something if she sleeps.
As a baby, she had colic. They are great for babies but once you grow up there are other amazing mattresses out there. Below we explain how Lull is an excellent option but if you would like to learn about their layers I suggest going over a comprehensive review of the Lull mattress here.
As a toddler, we had a bedtime ritual that seemed fantastic, we read, we snuggled, we slowly turned out the lights. By the time I got downstairs, she was opening her door and joining us in the living room.
During our trip to the Dominican Republic, I recognized exhaustion setting in. I suggested we take an hour to lay down and take a power nap and then resume the fun. Li’l Man was in, MacKenzie fought me. That time turned into more exhaustion, which led to a complete nuclear explosion in MacKenzie.
MacKenzie is usually the child who fights my rule that she needs 9-hours of sleep per night. This is largely in part to the fact that it means she has to go to bed much earlier than her peers.
She is my child who thinks of others and tosses and turns as she tries to figure out a solution for everyone else.
Then the holidays happened.
The prospect of receiving their wish list, the excitement of gifting to cousins, friends, and others. It all takes its toll.
Except for this year, MacKenzie, night after night, had sugarplums dancing in her head.
It took me my lifetime of raising children to realize that I have neglected one of the most basic needs by buying cheap mattresses. I always reasoned, “They are growing.” or “We’ll get a better one not too far into the future.”
We received a Lull Mattress before the holidays.
The bed was delivered right to our door.
When I picked it up, I couldn’t believe how light the box was.
Then when we opened it up, it just sprang to life before my eyes.
We set it up for MacKenzie.
There was an adjustment period of about three weeks for her.
We maintained a regular bedtime.
She continued her pre-bedtime ritual. For her, we give her thirty minutes in bed to listen to her music or read. Typically, we make the announcement 10 minutes and devices shut down. Usually, as we work our way to our beds some time later, MacKenzie would whisper, “Goodnight, Mom. Goodnight, Dad.”
Night after night we talked about how she slept. What she noticed that was different. It made me realize that I may have helped create some poor sleeping habits and neglected to fulfill the support that their bodies need.
Her “Goodnight, Mom. Goodnight, Dad” became a thing of the past; uttered once as she headed to her room. Once she gets in bed, she seems to just drift off to a deep sleep.
We’ve all been there, the kids get a hand-me-down, or we opt fo the cheap mattress. In the end, we fail to see the broader reality that a good night’s sleep is extremely important for a child’s health.
Sleep benefits us. It impacts their performance at school, their mood, their overall well-being.
Choosing a good mattress that gives optimal support helps maintain spinal alignment is so important.
A mattress needs to support their body and the sleeping pattern that makes them uniquely them–I have a child who sleeps on his back and one that sleeps on her side.

Lull Mattress continues to deliver a good night’s sleep.
What makes Lull unique?
Lull Mattress combines three distinct technologies.
- Comfort layer: 1.5 inches of Gel Infused Viscoelastic memory foam (draws heat away from the body to prevent sleeping hot)
- Transition layer: 1.5 inches of latex-like foam (puts some bounce in the mattress)
- Support layer: 7 inches of core polyurethane foam.
This means that overall the Lull mattress will return to its original form faster when switching positions.
Here is a closeup of Lull in its organic state:
Lull’s cover is made of ultra-premium fabrics. The cover surface is made from polyester and rayon to provide comfort, stretch, and, flexibility. It is incredibly soft, breathable and durable. It is hand-crafted and easily removable for spot cleaning. It offers a fire barrier that is rayon cellulose fiber blended with fine-grained sand and a small amount of polyester which, in combination, are inherently fire resistant.
The darker, bottom section, reminds me of a tweed jacket. It is tightly woven. It is topped off with a heavy, navy piping that is double stitched. As someone who sews, I found the stitching to be well placed, no stitches missed, and it held up as I pulled and pressed against the piping.
On top of the tweed-looking bottom and navy piping is the cover.
It has a very breathable cover that is incredibly soft to the touch.
As MacKenzie and I examined the top, she commented that it was like having “thousands of little pillow to sleep on.” They are stitched like a honeycomb and again, solid stitching that has held up with weekly sheet removal, bed making, and sleep.
The mattress is a solid 10-inches thick.
The edges are rounded and continue the soft, honeycomb stitched top.
When made, the Lull Mattress gives great shape and is inviting.
