With Easter behind us, the children and I just finished reading Luka’s Maiden Voyage by Gene Price. It’s the Easter story from the point of view of the donkey that carried Jesus into Jerusalem. It’s a Christian-fable that really carries the message of Easter.
The children loved that the story had some exciting twists as we followed Lukas, Jesus’ donkey with physical ailments, and his first and most important journey into Jerusalem with Christ. Our eyes filled with tears as we read about Lukas being bullied for his differences and our hearts filled with joy as we saw him overcome this and learn the true meaning of faith.
The book is illustrated, bringing the young donkey’s journey to life. Still it’s the story that touches and incorporates positive and important messages that we all want our children to learn.
I enjoyed this book. I found the new perspective to be a great way to share the story and my children just fell in love with this story.
